" Do We Exist? " stopped us in our tracks. The lead single from Spacemoth's Inward Eye cracked this site's weekly list of the best new songs, and it has us checking for what else Maryam Qudus has in the queue. The Oakland musician released a second advance single today, one that shows off her range.
Whereas "Do We Exist?" was brisk and funky, "Internet Fantasy" offers noisily droning krautrock with a sleek, soothing vocal melody. Those stated Kraftwerk and Cluster influences come through loud and clear as Qudus ponders the struggle to stay present in your own life when the digital world beckons.
Jordan Macapagal directed the "Internet Fantasy" video, which you can watch below. Stick around for the deluge of distorted guitars.
Inward Eye is out 6/26 via Greenway. Pre-order it here .
