Taking place in STAC Chapel, this inaugural edition accompanies the STAC @ 30 exhibition and forms a key strand of the wider anniversary programme.
This first STAC Talks session examines two central ideas: “What is an arts centre anyway?” and “Making art in a regional context.”
The programme brings together artists, curators, and cultural practitioners to reflect on how artistic practice is supported, produced, and shared in de-centered locations, and to consider the infrastructures — formal and informal — that sustain cultural life in rural locations.
“What is an Arts Centre anyway?”
Panel discussion featuring: Michele Horrigan (Curator, Askeaton Contemporary Arts), Paul O'Neill (Curator, PUBLICS Helsinki), Helena Tobin (Curator and Artistic Director of South Tipperary Arts Centre).
“Making art in a regional context - an artist's perspective”
Panel discussion featuring: Aideen Barry, Ursula Burke, Sheenagh Geoghegan, Austin McQuinn, and Bridget O'Gorman.
STAC Talks is a free public event, but booking is essential due to limited capacity. The programme is part of the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations of South Tipperary Arts Centre and its commitment to supporting contemporary artistic practice in the region.
