In the wake of the devastating Eaton Fire, which destroyed their performance space and displaced members of their artistic family, Altadena Music Theatre is turning heartbreak into hope with an extraordinary, one-night-only fundraising event on May 24, 2026. This powerful evening will not only mark the launch of the company's 2026 season-it will serve as a vital step in rebuilding a beloved community arts institution from the ground up.

At the heart of the event is a rare and intimate concert featuring legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz , who will appear and perform in support of the company. Best known for his iconic scores including Wicked, Pippin, and Godspell, Schwartz's music has inspired generations- and on this night, it will help restore a theatre home.

Joining him is an extraordinary lineup of acclaimed performers, including Katharine McPhee , Joey McIntyre , Loren Allred , Brian Justin Crum , Allison Porter, Ty Taylor , Ruby Lewis , John Krause , and many more. Together, these artists will bring to life beloved songs and deep cuts from Schwartz's extraordinary catalog in a night filled with passion, storytelling, and connection.

But this concert is about more than music. When the Eaton Fire swept through Altadena, it took with it Altadena Music Theatre's performance space, sets, costumes, and years of creative history. Many members of the company, including performers, its producer/director and creative team also lost their homes. What could have been an ending has instead become a rallying point.

"This is about rebuilding-not just a theatre, but a creative home," organizers share. "The arts are essential to how communities heal, connect, and move forward. This night is about bringing that spirit back to Altadena."

Proceeds from the event will directly support rebuilding costs and fund the company's return to performance this summer, when Altadena Music Theatre will stage two major outdoor productions - Grease and Little Shop of Horrors - on the lawn of the Mountain View Mausoleum, bringing live theatre back to the community in a bold, joyful way.

The May 24th concert serves as the official opening of this resilient new season: a celebration of survival, creativity, and the unbreakable power of the arts. The evening is being Produced by Altadena Music Theatre founder Sarah Azcarte and Brian Justin Crum . Tickets can be purchased at the Altadena Music Theatre website.
