Sylvan Esso Breaks New Ground with Guitar-Driven Track "Hot Slob"

I think of Sylvan Esso as a synth-driven project, so it's interesting to hear them launch into a new era with such a guitar-driven song.

"Hot Slob," the North Carolina group's new track out this week, finds the core duo Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn joined by multi-instrumentalist Jenn Wasner (Flock Of Dimes, Bon Iver, Wye Oak) and drummer TJ Maiani (Weyes Blood, Neneh Cherry). It's loud, it's messy, and it rocks. "Fuck it, yeah I’m phoney but I sell it like its something new," Meath sings. "The truth, the truth, the truth!”

"Hot Slob" follows last fall's " WDID ," released along with news that Sylvan Esso were leaving Spotify and moving their music to their own Psychic Hotline label. The new single arrives ahead of a sold-out weeklong residency next week at LA's Sid The Cat Auditorium, where Sylvan Esso will debut their new live configuration. Presumably we can expect some special guests?
