Taylor Swift celebrated the release of Toy Story 5 with a post on X on Thursday, where she seemed to suggest that it took just a day to write and produce “I Knew It, I Knew You.”

“Been kind of a hectic day,” Swift said in the video, smiling and practically jittery. “At 11 a.m., went to go see Toy Story 5 . Got so inspired, got the songwriter zoomies, went home, wrote the end-credit song for Toy Story 5. We have now produced it, and I’m doing vocals. It’s 6:57 p.m., in two hours, Bob Iger and Tom from Pixar are coming to hear it. We have not recorded it yet, and I think this is one of the most fun days of my life.”

It’s unclear when the video was actually filmed, or how much of the song’s recording took place that same day before that meeting with the Disney executives. Still, the notion that Swift even managed to write and produce an entire song within a few hours’ work right after seeing the film — let alone recording it — is itself impressive.

“I Knew It, I Knew You,” co-written with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, serves as the end-credits song for the latest Toy Story film, which releases Friday. The song has Swift, fresh off an induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame , coming back to her country roots, a fitting choice as the song is inspired by cowgirl Jessie. The track, which debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 this week, is already garnering early buzz as an Oscar contender for best original song.

“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post after the song released earlier in June. “Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a toystory kid from the age of 5 til now … is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
