With a cast of ten regional actors, led by Lucy Wilson, this live experience is one you won't want to miss. Tim Allen [Mr. Kraler], Jim Arter [Mr. Van Daan], Paula Arter [Mrs. Van Daan], Sammi Berniger [Miep], Randy Benge [ Otto Frank ], Bronson Buck [Peter], Kenzi Jackson [Margot Frank], Thomas Smith [ Mr. Dussel ], and Susan Bunsold-Wilson [ Edith Frank ] round out the cast.
Based on the real-life writings of a young Jewish girl during World War II, The Diary of Anne Frank offers an intimate portrayal of a family forced into hiding to escape Nazi persecution. For nearly two years, Anne Frank, along with her parents, sister, and the Van Daan family, lived in a concealed annex above her father's former office in Amsterdam, as countless others were deported to concentration camps.
"We live in a world that feels increasingly fractured. History has a haunting way of repeating itself when we stop listening to the voices of the marginalized. Anne was a minority whose humanity was stripped away by policy and prejudice long before she ever reached a camp," said Director Ryan Bowie . "I feel staging this work today allows us to hold up a mirror to our own communities, asking: Who are the voices we are silencing today? Whose humanity are we failing to see?"
Within the confines of the secret attic, Anne's voice emerges with remarkable clarity and humanity. She navigates adolescence under extraordinary circumstances-laughing, questioning, clashing with her mother, and experiencing first love-all while grappling with fear and uncertainty. Despite the oppressive environment and the horrors beyond the annex walls, Anne's unwavering belief in the goodness of people continues to inspire audiences around the world.
Her story remains a vital reminder of resilience, compassion, and the enduring strength of the human spirit. As relevant today as when her diary was first published, The Diary of Anne Frank invites audiences to reflect, remember, and bear witness.
