The Mary Show brings together the sharpest comedians and variety acts working today for an evening that culminates in a show-stopping Broadway performance. Described by Neely as 'full blown all star energy,' the musical comedy variety show is known for its live piano, its refusal to sit still, and for ending on something that stops the room.
The June 29th lineup features Chloe Troast ('Saturday Night Live,' Sweethearts), Zach Schiffman ('Full Frontal with Samantha Bee ,' 'Tooning Out the News'), Jon Rudnitsky ('Saturday Night Live,' Catch-22), Camden Garcia ('Hacks,' 'Frasier'), Chris Murphy (The Housewife and the Hustler, 'Netflix Is A Joke'), and Ivy Wolk (Anora, If I Had Legs I'd Kick You), with piano by Farrah Rotman (Louis Sudler Prize, Yale). The evening features with musical performances by Keri René Fuller (Wicked, SIX) and Natalie Walker (The Big Gay Jamboree, White Girl in Danger).
For this installment, Neely will dedicate her set to the untold story behind the viral moment that changed her life - nearly six years to the day since she posted her first Covid musical video on Twitter. 'Since it'll be six years almost to the day since I posted my first Twitter Covid musical video,' Neely has said, 'I've decided to dedicate my set to the untold story of what was actually going on in my life at the time.'
About Mary Neely
Mary Neely is an actor, writer, director, and producer with a knack for turning chaos into comedy and raw emotion into indelible storytelling. She first captured the world's attention with viral pandemic-era recreations of Broadway musicals filmed on her iPhone - no tripod, no crew, just the costumes and props she had around her apartment - which drew praise from Lin-Manuel Miranda , Andrew Lloyd Webber , and Kelli O'Hara and earned her recognition as part of 'Best Theater of 2020' by both The New York Times and The Washington Post. Those videos changed the course of her life, inspiring her move to New York and setting in motion everything that followed.
Neely co-wrote and stars in the feature film Or Something - a lo-fi walk-and-talk drama shot in six days across New York City, now streaming on MUBI - which opened at the Quad Cinema to critical acclaim. Shot for significantly under a million dollars and indebted to the DNA of Linklater, Cassavetes, and early Mumblecore, it emerged from a two-year process of Neely and co-writer Kareem Rahma meeting in coffee shops and apartments, transcribing their real conversations onto the page. Variety, 10 Magazine, Numéro Netherlands, and The Moveable Fest have all profiled her work extensively since the film's release.
She can currently be seen in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Arthur Miller 's Death of a Salesman alongside Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf , directed by Joe Mantello - for which she received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Ensemble. Additional film and television credits include Swiped (Hulu), Valley Girl, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, Happiness for Beginners, and "Law & Order: SVU". She co-wrote and stars in the SXSW pilot Stars Diner and is currently developing an unnamed independent feature film.
Chloe Troast is an actor, comedian, and writer from New Jersey who trained at NYU's Gallatin School before making her mark on New York's comedy scene with improv, stand-up, and sketch work. She was the sole new featured player added to 'Saturday Night Live' for its 49th season - and one of the show's most talked-about voices, earning particular attention for her musical range and character work opposite Timothée Chalamet. She was previously named a New Face of Comedy at Just For Laughs Montreal 2023. Film credits include Sweethearts (Max), Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, and The Four Seasons. She co-hosts the weekly New York comedy show "Cherry" at the Public Hotel and recently launched the web series 'Spilling Your Seed,' a sharp parody of genealogy programming.
Zach Schiffman is a writer, producer, and comedian based in Brooklyn. He serves as Senior Social Media Editor at New York Magazine, where his work spans Vulture, Grub Street, and the magazine's main channels. He has a theater background stretching back to Boston University, where he directed sold-out productions and co-hosted a weekly comedy talk show. He is Jewish, feminist, and full of chutzpah.
Jon Rudnitsky is a comedian, actor, and writer from New Jersey who first broke through with the Los Angeles improv troupe The Groundlings before being added as the sole new cast member of 'Saturday Night Live' for its 41st season, where his Dirty Dancing Weekend Update appearance became one of the season's most talked-about moments. Since SNL, he has steadily built one of the more eclectic careers in American comedy: he starred opposite George Clooney in the Hulu miniseries Catch-22, played Young Larry in 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' appeared in Nancy Meyers ' Home Again opposite Reese Witherspoon -led Fox's 'The Big Leap,' and appeared in Netflix's Set It Up alongside Glen Powell and Zoey Deutch . Additional credits include Our Little Secret (Netflix), I Love You Forever (Hulu), Disney's Wish, and 'Tacoma FD.' He is a regular at the Comedy Cellar and has performed on 'Conan' and Comedy Central 's 'The Comedy Jam,' where he performed 'Footloose' alongside Kenny Loggins .
Camden Garcia is an award-winning actor, comedian, and writer from Los Angeles, currently based in Brooklyn. He studied at The Second City in Chicago, UCB New York, the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, and Boston University School of Theatre - and has since become one of New York's most in-demand character performers, dominating the city's underground comedy scene across stand-up, sketch, and drag. He is a regular with Stamptown - the international anarchic variety show that has played Netflix Is A Joke, Edinburgh Fringe, Glastonbury, and Off-Broadway - and performs regularly at UCB's Maude Night and Betty Night, Union Hall, The Bell House, The Slipper Room, and Characters Welcome. Television credits include 'Hacks' (HBO Max), 'Frasier' (Paramount+), 'Sprung' (Amazon), 'Station 19,' 'Raising Hope,' and 'My Name Is Earl.'
Chris Murphy is a comedian, actor, and writer based in New York City who covers TV, film, theater, and awards for Vanity Fair. He previously served on the editorial staff of New York Magazine and Vulture.com, and has performed all over the city at Ars Nova, Club Cumming, Union Hall, 54 Below, and The Bell House, as well as at Netflix Is A Joke Fest in Hollywood. He appeared in the Hulu documentary The Housewife and the Hustler and has been a fixture on the New York comedy and cabaret scene's most discerning stages.
Ivy Wolk is an actor, comedian, and writer based in Brooklyn who has become one of independent film's most striking new presences. She appeared as Crystal in Sean Baker 's Palme d'Or-winning Anora - going viral at Cannes for her determination to get into the premiere - and starred alongside Rose Byrne and A$AP Rocky in Mary Bronstein's If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (A24). She is a recurring presence on FX's 'English Teacher' and appears in Andrew De Young's 'Friendship' (Fifth Season) opposite Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson . Additional stage credits include White Girl in Danger at Second Stage Theatre and Alice By Heart at MCC Theater . Her writing has appeared in Bookforum and New York Magazine.
