Since 2021, the Cabaret has been an annual event on the Merrigong calendar but this year, The Strangeways Ensemble are spreading the love and taking their Cabaret on the road to regional venues, including local artists as special guests in the lineup.

With a live cabaret band and a whole lot of heart, The Strangeways Cabaret promises unique takes on one of the most explored human emotions – love.

Original songs about online dating, loneliness and broken promises, are told by a motley crew of characters accompanied by a live band to create a joyful celebration of life and love in all its forms.

Director Anne-Louise Rentell said, "The Strangeways Cabaret is a beautiful deep dive into the Ensemble's own experiences and imaginations, and a chance for us to connect with other artists and new audiences on tour - we can't wait to share it with you!"

For more than a decade, members of The Strangeways Ensemble have created genre-bending theatre, including The Seven, Trash Talk and Something That Happened, infused with trademark humour, gravity and insight.

Performer Ethan Green said, “Come and see the Cabaret as it will get you hyped up, we have some characters that will make you sad and happy. We're excited to get our voice out and to be taking it on tour and to meet new people - let's go!”

Featuring ensemble members Malcolm Allison, Ethan Arnold, Jordan Bowater, Ethan Green, Rachel Head, Phillip Prentice and Christian Tagliaferro, The Strangeways Cabaret takes audiences on an antics-fuelled ride that packs a surprising emotional punch.
