Theatricus has announced the World Premiere of THE HENRY CLYDE CANNING MURDER HOUSE by Christian Missonak, the first fully-realized stage production to emerge from its 2025 VOX NOVA Playwright Festival. The production opened on June 5 and runs through June 21, 2026 at Moving Arts in Atwater Village, CA.

Launched to champion bold new voices, the VOX NOVA Playwright Festival awards its First Prize winner a full production the following year-making THE HENRY CLYDE CANNING MURDER HOUSE the inaugural realization of that promise, and a major milestone for the company's commitment to developing new work.

"VOX NOVA was created to do more than celebrate new plays... we wanted to shepherd them all the way to production," says Artistic Director James Castle Stevens. "This is the first time we're fulfilling that promise, and it's incredibly exciting to bring Christian Missonak's gripping story to life for our growing audience."

Years after Henry Canning's conviction for the murder of sixteen women, his children live very different lives. Elise has remained on the infamous family property, running it as an archery school, while her brother Harry has built a career exploiting their father's crimes through true crime media. When Harry returns home with plans to transform the property into a murder house attraction, the siblings are forced to confront buried truths-and the lingering shadow of their father.

Blending psychological tension with dark humor, THE HENRY CLYDE CANNING MURDER HOUSE explores the commodification of trauma, the allure of true crime, and the cost of living in the aftermath of violence.

The cast features Amy Jean Shaughnessy as Elise, Christopher Karbo as Harry, Jennifer Ridgway as Vera and Alec Gaylord as Luka.

The creative team includes direction by James Castle Stevens, set design by Jan Munroe lighting design by Ellen Monocroussos and costume design by Christine Cover Ferro.

Performances run from June 5-21 for fourteen performances at Moving Arts, Atwater Village, Los Angeles. Tickets can be purchased at the event page on Zeffy's website. Please Note: this performance is recommended for audiences 13+ (strong language, violent themes)
