The 42nd Helen Hayes Awards were presented on Monday, May 18 at an event at The Anthem. The awards celebrated productions in the Washington, DC region in the 2025 calendar year.

Among the big winners this year were Arena Stage with nine awards, eight being for Damn Yankees and one for Fremont Ave. Round House Theatre received six awards, five for The Inheritance: Parts One and Two, and one for Bad Books.

Among the other winners were Adventure Theatre MTC, Spooky Action Theater, Signature Theatre, and more.

The Inheritance: Parts One and Two (Hayes) Round House Theatre

Winners have been announced for for the 2026 Chita Rivera Awards, honoring outstanding choreography, featured dancers, and ensembles in shows on Broadway and film seen during the 2025-2026 season.

The Drama Desk Awards' annual event will move to The Shed, the cultural institution on Manhattan’s west side, beginning with the 2027 ceremony. The space will allow the Drama Desk Awards to evolve the format of the ceremony.

Charlotte d’Amboise and Robyn Hurder will host the 2026 Chita Rivera Awards at the NYU Skirball Center. Tune in at 5:45pm ET as we hit the red carpet with BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge.

Lesley Manville, who is currently performing on stage at the National Theatre in London in Les Liaisons Dangereuses, received her very first Tony nominee pin from her close friend and Les Liaisons Dangereuses director, Marianne Elliott. See photos!
