The Downtown Urban Arts Festival will present "The Deep Play," a powerful new dramedy written by Cece Suazo and directed by Obie Award recipient Yvette Ganier . This strictly limited, one-night-only engagement will take place on Saturday, June 13th at the legendary Off-Broadway venue, La Mama Experimental Theatre Club .

Set against the backdrop of 1980s Brooklyn, "The Deep Play" follows 12-year-old Eduardo Garcia as he navigates the fragile boundaries of his Honduran family. When secrets regarding gender identity and past trauma threaten to surface, the family is forced to confront a pivotal choice between devastation and unity. It is a universal story of survival, the unmasking of truth, and the enduring power of love.

The production features an ensemble cast led by *Ashton Muniz (from Broadway's The Inheritance), alongside *Nicole Marie Hunt , Isha Sumner, Elizabeth Camacho, Daysha J. Williams, & introducing Isavel Mendoza.
