Universal Music Publishing Group has signed Daniel Blumberg , the composer and artist behind the Academy Award -winning score for The Brutalist , to a global publishing agreement.

The deal, announced on Thursday (May 21), was struck jointly with UMPG ‘s music supervision partner 45RPM Music Publishing , and brings Blumberg into UMPG ‘s Classics & Screen division.

Blumberg won the Oscar for Best Original Score at the 97th Academy Awards in March 2025 for his work on Brady Corbet ‘s The Brutalist , having taken home a BAFTA for the same score weeks earlier.

The London -based composer’s recent screen work also includes scores for Gianfranco Rosi ‘s Sotto le Nuvole/Pompei: Below The Clouds (2025) and Mona Fastvold ‘s The Testament of Ann Lee (2025).

Beyond film, Blumberg ‘s solo discography on Mute includes Minus (2018), Liv (2014), On&On (2020) and Gut (2023).

The UK composer is also a visual artist who draws with silverpoint, with work exhibited at venues including Balice Hertling Paris , Triennale di Milano , ICA London and KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin .

Commenting on the signing, Blumberg said: “I’m happy to be working with Ayla Owen again and to be signing to 45RPM and look forward to collaborating with them and the broader team at Universal Music Publishing on my upcoming creative projects.”

Ayla Owen is Managing Director and co-founder of 45RPM Music Publishing , the publishing venture launched in October 2024 via a strategic partnership between 45RPM and UMPG .

Prior to 45RPM , Owen spent four years at Warner Chappell Music , where she was named Vice President, Sync & Creative Services for Europe in January 2020 – and where she first signed Blumberg .

At UMPG ‘s Classics & Screen division, Blumberg joins a roster that includes Nicholas Britell , Isobel Waller-Bridge , Max Richter , Jerskin Fendrix , Oneohtrix Point Never and David Lynch .

The publisher’s classical catalog also encompasses historic repertoires Ricordi (Italy), Durand/Salabert-Eschig (France) and EMB (Hungary), spanning composers from Puccini and Messiaen to David Lang , Julia Wolfe and Michael Gordon .

At 45RPM Music Publishing , Blumberg joins a roster that includes composers Toydrum and Arthur Sharpe , plus singer-songwriter and composer Harvey Causon .

45RPM was established in 2022 as a music supervision collective by Iain Cooke , Sarah Bridge , Catherine Grieves and Nick Angel , with Owen later joining as Managing Director in January 2024.

The signing of Blumberg follows a string of recent moves by UMPG .

In March, the publisher signed American synth-pop band Future Islands to an exclusive global publishing deal covering the band’s catalog and future work.

In October 2025, UMPG extended its exclusive, global publishing agreement with Idris Elba , whom the company described as an “adept songwriter, producer, musician, actor, director and DJ”. Music Business Worldwide
