The music from Alma's Way Summertime Musical, the special from PBS KIDS' Alma's Way, will be released as a full soundtrack album this Friday, May 22. Featuring a collection of original songs inspired by Puerto Rican culture and life in the Bronx, it is available to stream here .

The album features songwriting, composing, and performances from a roster of artists, including 2X Grammy nominee Pierce Freelon, Puerto Rican musician Fabiola Méndez, Asher Lenz, Stephen J. Skratt, Dana Michelle Chan, and Jorge Aguirre, among others. The special highlights how music can be a tool for storytelling and self-expression, from Rafia and André's Bollywood-inspired rap about life in the Bronx to Howard's pop ballad.

The special, released in the summer of 2025, sees Sonny Soto host a contest for the kids of the Bronx to write the ultimate "Song of Summer." Alma and Eddie decide to enter, gathering inspiration from their family visit to Puerto Rico. Their journey takes them from the island back to the city, leading them to realize that they don't have to choose between these two places they love.

Alma's Way on PBS Kids is an animated series for kids ages 4-6, created by actor, writer, and TV icon Sonia Manzano, known as "Maria" on Sesame Street. Inspired by her own childhood, each half-hour episode consists of two 11-minute stories and centers on 6-year-old Alma Rivera, a proud, confident Puerto Rican girl.

Alma lives in the Bronx with her parents and younger brother, Junior, as well as a diverse group of close-knit and loving friends, family, and community members. Grounded in critical thinking and social-emotional learning, the series aims to give children the tools to discover the confidence to think for themselves, find their own answers, and recognize and respect the unique perspectives of others.
