Anthropic raises $65B in Series H funding, valuing the AI giant at $965B

Anthropic has raised $65 billion in Series H funding, valuing the artificial intelligence company at $965 billion post-money.

The round was led by Altimeter Capital , Dragoneer , Greenoaks , and Sequoia Capital , the AI company announced on Thursday (May 28).

It is the latest in a series of fundraises that has seen Anthropic – the company behind AI chatbot Claude – grow from a $61.5 billion valuation in March 2025 to the cusp of the $1 trillion mark in just over a year.

Anthropic said its run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion earlier this month, and that the funding will advance its safety and interpretability research, expand compute capacity, and scale its products and partnerships.

The round was co-led by Capital Group , Coatue , D1 Capital Partners , GIC , ICONIQ , and XN .

Other investors include Baillie Gifford , Blackstone , Brookfield , D.E. Shaw Ventures , DST Global , Fidelity Management & Research Company , General Catalyst , Jane Street , Lightspeed Venture Partners , MGX , and Temasek , among others.

The round also includes $15 billion of previously committed investments from hyperscalers, including $5 billion from Amazon .

Strategic infrastructure partners Micron , Samsung , and SK hynix – whose technologies play a role in the global supply of memory, storage, and logic chips – also joined the round.

Anthropic said it has signed agreements with Amazon for up to five gigawatts of new compute capacity, with Google and Broadcom for five gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity, and with SpaceX for access to GPU capacity.

Claude is now available on all three of the world’s largest cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services , Google Cloud , and Microsoft Azure .

The $65 billion raise is the latest in a fundraising spree that has accelerated over the past 15 months.

In March 2025, Anthropic raised $3.5 billion in a Series E round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners , as previously reported by MBW , valuing the company at $61.5 billion .

That was followed by a $13 billion Series F in September 2025, which tripled its valuation to $183 billion .

Then in February 2026, Anthropic closed a $30 billion Series G led by GIC and Coatue , pushing its valuation to $380 billion .

Its rival OpenAI – the company behind ChatGPT – closed a $122 billion funding round in March 2026 at an $852 billion post-money valuation, backed by Amazon , Nvidia , and SoftBank .

The funding announcement arrives as Anthropic continues to face multiple copyright infringement lawsuits from the music industry.

Universal Music Publishing Group , Concord Music Group , and ABKCO first sued Anthropic in October 2023 , alleging that its Claude chatbot was trained on copyrighted song lyrics without permission.

In January 2026, the same publishers filed a second, larger lawsuit seeking more than $3 billion in potential statutory damages over alleged infringement of more than 20,000 songs – what could be the single largest non-class-action copyright case in US history .

In March 2026, UMG , Concord , and ABKCO filed a motion for partial summary judgment in the original case, asking the court to rule that Anthropic infringed their copyrights and to reject the company’s fair use defense.

That same month, BMG Rights Management filed its own copyright infringement lawsuit against Anthropic , alleging the AI company’s valuation was built on “stolen copyrighted works” .

On March 30, the RIAA , NMPA , and six other music industry groups filed an amicus brief backing the music publishers , arguing that Anthropic ‘s unlicensed copying was “inexcusable.”

Separately, Anthropic agreed to pay $1.5 billion in September 2025 to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by book authors who alleged the company used pirated copies of their works to train Claude .

Anthropic ‘s $965 billion valuation means the company is now approaching the $1 trillion mark – a milestone that would make it one of the most valuable companies in the world, public or private. Music Business Worldwide
