beabadoobee Reveals New Album

In March, beabadoobee released “All I Did Was Dream Of You,” her first new single in two years. Now, the eclectic singer has finally announced her long-awaited fourth album: spanning 14 tracks, Pylon is due out September 18th via via Dirty Hit and Interscope Records.

According to a press release, the follow-up to 2024’s This Is How Tomorrow Moves is “named for the electricity towers that dot every major artery in the world,” and which remind beabadoobee of the “friends and family at home while she was staring down extreme disconnection and isolation on tour over the past few years.”

Luckily, she’s not exactly alone on Pylon after recruiting a veritable who’s who of musical companions. That includes Hayley Williams on “Nothing to Prove” (a “deeply anthemic indie-rock song about getting your power back from fair-weather friends who just want a bit of your success”); Turnstile singer Brendan Yates on “Powerlines”; Pinegrove’s Evan Stephens Hall; Deftones’ Chino Moreno; Title Fight’s Shane Mora; and production work on “Write Me A Letter” from The 1975’s Matty Healy and George Daniel.

Pylon ’s guest list helped beabadoobee cultivate a “spiky, forceful new sound,” with the “waves of distortion that crash and shatter across this record’s 14 songs mirroring the intense crackle you hear when walking under power lines.” And within that sonic turmoil, beabadoobee is ultimately grappling with the “repetitive anxieties of your mid-20s: ‘What if I’m always going to be this way? What if life is just pylon after pylon on the road?'”

Our first listen of Pylon comes with lead single “Sun Has Set.” In a statement, beabadoobee called it a deeply personal opening salvo, adding, “A lot of the songs on this record are things I wish I could have said to someone. This song has this petty tunnel vision — it’s like, I hate you. You’re gonna stay here and listen to how much I hate you. In support of Pylon , beabadoobee has announced her first-ever run of arena dates as part of the “Powerlines Tour.” The US portion spans October and includes stops in Philadelphia, New York, Toronto, Austin, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Vancouver. Then, it’s off to the UK and Europe for November (with Violet Grohl as a supporting act). Check out the full schedule below.
