Beatport Unveils AI-Powered Music Recognition Tool for Electronic Music Enthusiasts
Beatport introduces a new Track ID feature designed to identify electronic music in challenging environments such as noisy nightclubs and complex DJ sets, offering a solution for historically difficult recognition settings.

We all know what it’s like to stand in a nightclub with our phone thrust in the air trying to figure out what track is being played. For those in electronic music, this identification can be particularly difficult, given the noisiness of clubs and festivals and the fact that DJs often play just snippets of tracks that have been pitched up or down within their sets.
Beatport is now offering a tool to identify music in such settings. Out Tuesday (May 12), the company’s new Track ID tool has been built to identify songs in challenging environments. Available within the Beatport mobile app, the tool makes any track that’s identified instantly accessible on the Beatport platform and also saves the song in a dedicated Track ID history. Beatport reports that this new feature has been one of the most requested by users of the platform.

“Sharing Track IDs has been a hotly debated topic amongst DJs over the years,” Beatport’s chief revenue officer Helen Sartory says in a statement. “But we’ve come a long way since the days of covering up labels on vinyl; now there are hundreds of sites, groups, and apps all dedicated to IDing music. With the launch of Track ID, we’re now able to connect DJs to the music they’re looking for in the moment, and showcase the artists behind those tracks that really inspire.”
Beatport also believes that the tool will help solve the pernicious issue of DJs not always being accurately compensated when their music is played out.
“When DJs can easily identify and share track information, it benefits everyone,” Sartory continues. “What we hope to see is Track ID being used not only as a discovery tool, but in the future, building the foundations for accurate setlist reporting (helping payout missing performance royalties), and at a global level, showing labels and artists where and when their music is being performed live.”
Track ID was created in partnership with seeqnc, a company that bills itself as an “AI-powered content recognition platform helping brands, platforms and rightsholders detect, protect and monetize music and content in real time.”
