Bebe Rexha Celebrates No. 1 Dance Chart Hit

Bebe Rexha has a lot to celebrate, and she’s definitely doing that on her own terms. On Tuesday (May 5), the singer posted an emotional, tearful video she took in January 2025, just after she parted ways with her major label home of 12 years, Warner Records.
The post was both a eulogy for what was and a cork-popping celebration of what is for the four-time Grammy nominated pop singer and songwriter. “‘New Religion’ is #1 on Billboard Dance/Airplay and US Dance Radio!,” she wrote in an Instagram post of her beat-infected collaboration with Faithless. “First I wanna say to the fans this isn’t just my win. This is our win.”
She added, “This means more to me than any other accolade I’ve ever received because I’m doing this on my own terms. Going independent was so scary, I honestly thought it was over for me. I know that sounds dramatic but the last 7 years were a battle and I was suffering in silence.” Earlier this year, the Brooklyn-born star — who penned hits for everyone from Eminem and Rihanna to Selena Gomez before embarking on her own career as a solo artist — signed a new partnership deal with Bay Area-based label and distributor EMPIRE.
“But now I’m free and I’m surrounded by people who celebrate and uplift me,” she wrote. “Thank you @empire for being my backbone. This feels like a rebirth and the sick thing is, we’re just getting started.”
The sweet was mixed with a bit of salty in the form of the emotional video from last January, which a caption said was recorded on the day she found out that Warner Records was parting way with her. Her mascara smeared under her eyes, Rexha tearfully explained, “I know that I’m loved by the people around me, and I don’t know where I go next, you know? I don’t know. This video will probably never see the light of day, but I wanted to make it so that I can watch it, and hopefully I’ll be in a better place.”
The next slide is a screenshot of “New Religion” at the top of the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart for the week ending May 9. The final shot is of a bikini-wearing Rexha on the beach confidently throwing up two middle fingers.
Rexha’s new album, Dirty Blonde , is due out on June 12. To date, in addition to “New Religion,” Rexha has recently released the songs “I Like You Better Than Me” and “Çike Çike” and “Hysteria.”
