BLACKPINK's JISOO Teases Solo Debut: "A New Side of Me" With "Wider Range"
JISOO of BLACKPINK reveals her debut solo album will showcase a "new side" with a "wider range," and shares how she manages the pressures of fame.
JISOO knows that all eyes are on her as she gets ready to release her debut solo album. And in a new interview with V Magazine published Wednesday (May 6), the BLACKPINK singer opened up about what fans can look forward to on her first full-length and how she deals with the pressure of their high expectations for her.

On the topic of her new music, JISOO said, “Since I’m preparing a full-length album this time, I’m working on showing a wider range of music.”
“I think I’d be really happy if people listen to this album and say they discovered a new side of me,” she continued.
So far, JISOO has released only singles and an EP — last year’s AMORTAGE — as a soloist. She’s the only member of BLACKPINK who hasn’t yet put out a full-length solo project, with LISA, JENNIE and ROSÉ all charting on the Billboard 200 in recent years with respective albums Alter Ego , Ruby and Rosie . (Their most recent releases came this past February, with the quartet reuniting to drop EP DEADLINE after the DEADLINE World Tour wrapped the month prior.)
Knowing that the anticipation for her to join her bandmates in creating a solo debut LP is off the charts, JISOO also told the publication that “receiving so much attention and expectation can sometimes feel like pressure.”
However, she says she tries “not to worry about it too much and remind myself that it’s enough to simply be true to who I am.”
“That’s my way of protecting myself,” she added. “Instead of spending time worrying, I try to focus on living each day fully.”
