Rapper Boosie Badazz has been charged with a felony following an alleged assault with a glass hookah in a Houston nightclub last month. He denies the accusations, calling the charge a "money grab."

Rapper Boosie Badazz is facing a felony assault charge in Houston over accusations that he smashed a nightclub bouncer in the head with a glass hookah.
According to court records obtained by Billboard , Boosie faces a single count of aggravated assault of a May 24 incident, in which the rapper allegedly struck Edward Iglehart in the head as the security guard was attempting to clear out the Dome nightclub at closing time.

At an initial court hearing on Monday, Boosie was granted release on $85,000 bond, with his next court date set for September. In a video response posted to social media, he denied any wrongdoing and called the charges against him “basically a money grab.”
“It’s what you go through as an entertainer. The facts of the case will come out,” the rapper said. “I’m alright though. Life be lifing, bro.”
The new charges are the latest legal headache for Boosie, who just struck a plea deal with federal prosecutors last year to resolve a long-running gun possession case. His January guilty plea saw him sentenced to no prison time , but left Boosie facing three years of supervised release.
It’s unclear if the new charges will impact that earlier federal case. In his response video on Monday (June 1), Boosie said he had “contacted my [parole officer] to let him know what was going on” when he found out about the new charges.
In the new case, police say Iglehart got into an altercation with Boosie’s niece after the bouncer refused to let her use the bathroom when the Houston club had already closed. After the woman “struck him in the face,” Iglehart began escorting her from the building, police say. When he briefly bent down to pick up her belongings, he was allegedly attacked by Boosie.
“He suddenly felt an object strike the top of his head, causing immediate pain and injury,” a police officer testified in charging documents. “Mr. Iglehart stated that when he turned, he observed blood running down his face and observed the defendant holding a broken glass hookah base in his hand.”
Police say Iglehart’s injuries resulted in a trip to the hospital and eight stitches. “Based on my training and experience I believe that a glass hookah base in the manner of this use can cause serious bodily injury or death,” the officer wrote in charging documents.
