Brandon Flowers Performs Oasis Classic With Son at 9/11 Anniversary Show

Brandon Flowers covered Oasis ‘ classic hit single ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ with his son for a show marking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks last night.

The Killers frontman was joined by his 15-year-old son, Henry, on acoustic guitar for a rendition of the track at Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City.

“I’ve got a 15-year-old son and he loves Oasis and he’s gonna come out and he’s gonna do ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’,” said Flowers. “C’mon Henry, c’mon out here.” You can view footage below.

Flowers is currently on his North America tour in support of his new solo record, ‘Thrasher’ , ahead of his UK and Ireland gigs this autumn .

Elsewhere in his set on the night, he performed tracks from the record along with The Killers classics ‘Mr Brightside’ and ‘Read My Mind’.

Flowers will continue his tour in the US at Ogden Theatre in Denver tonight (September 12).

His appearances on these shores will include a stop at London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 15. You can find a list of shows here and buy tickets here .

‘Thrasher’ is Flowers’ first solo record since 2015’s ‘The Desired Effect’ , and was given a glowing four-star review from NME .

“We could have done with a little more of his Vegas oomph, but what we have instead is a whole lotta soul sold on pure and thorough conviction,” it read. “As we’ve been learning from recent outings like ‘Pressure Machine’ and the criminally underrated epic of ‘ Imploding The Mirage ’, Flowers is a much better storyteller than he gets credit for. With country music, there’s nowhere to hide, now Flowers is out of his cage and doing just fine.”

Ahead of the release, the singer also spoke to NME about how the album was inspired by his childhood , as well as tackling the “loneliness epidemic” for an incoming “sister record” and what’s next for The Killers.

When asked about whether there was another album from the rock icons on the way, he replied: “It’s not in the can, but the guys have been really great and accommodating about coming to Salt Lake to write and get demos going. We meet periodically in Salt Lake, and that’s just on account of where I’m at as a father… They’ve been great about it, and we’re just going to keep chipping away.

“It’s the full band, and we’ve been working with Ariel Rechtshaid and Shawn Rado. The band have got some time off for good behaviour, but we meet every now and again to see if we’ve got anything left in the tank.”

Oasis meanwhile, recently released their documentary named after ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ earlier this week. In a four-and-a-half-star review , NME said the movie was “masterfully done, with moments of irreverence and intense passion burning throughout”.

This evening, they seemingly teased a concert at Slane Castle in Ireland ahead of what is expected to be confirmation of their 2027 tour on Monday (September 14) .
