Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Conclude NYC Stand

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band are in the middle of their “NO KINGS” Land Of Hope And Dreams American Tour , and this week played Madison Square Garden on Monday and Barclays Center on Thursday as part of a three-show NYC run.

Both shows featured the exact same setlist, which includes some of Springsteen’s most political material as well as a few pointed covers, opening with a version of The Temptations’ “War,” followed by “Born in the USA,” “Death to My Hometown,” and a cover of The Clash’s “Clampdown,” all of which featured Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello on guitar.

Introducing “My City of Ruins,” Bruce told the crowd, “Honesty, honor, humility, character, truth, compassion, humanity, thoughtfulness, morality, true strength, and decency — don’t let anybody tell you that these things don’t matter anymore because they do. They are at the heart of the kind of men and women we are, the kind of citizens we want to be and the kind of country we want to leave to our children. So many of our elected leaders have failed us that this American tragedy can only be stopped by the American people — you. So join us and let’s fight for the America we love.”

Tom Morello would come back out a few more times during the main set for “American Skin (41 Shots)” “Long Walk Home,” and then again to close things out with “The Ghost of Tom Joad,” “Badlands,” and “Land of Hope and Dreams.”

There was also a five-song encore, of course, opening with “American Land” that featured Morello, then “Born to Run,” and “Dancing in the Dark,” and then Tom was back for “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and Bob Dylan’s “Chimes of Freedom” which closed out the night.
