Primus Drops New EP: "A Handful of Nuggs" Featuring Dio Cover & New Track

Primus are about to begin their “Claypool Gold” tour with two of Les Claypool ‘s other projects, The Claypool Lennon Delirium and Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade , and ahead of that, they’ve announced a new EP. A Handful of Nuggs , which is streaming now and comes out on vinyl on July 22, features a new track off their still-to-be-announced tenth album, “The Ol’ Grizz,” as well as a cover of Dio’s “Holy Diver” with Puddles Pity Party , their Maynard James Keenan -featuring 2025 track “Little Lord Fentanyl,” and a live rendition of “Duchess (and the Proverbial Mind Spread),” recorded at Philadelphia’s TD Pavilion at The Mann last year.

We have two exclusive vinyl variants of A Handful of Nuggs , on “gold splatter” and “black & gold blend vinyl,” limited to 500 copies each and available for pre-order in the BV shop .

Meanwhile, Les Claypool recently shouted out polka-dotted French Canadian microtonal math rockers Angine de Poitrine , who have been making waves and going viral. Speaking to Bass Magazine , he said, “Primus is an acquired taste. I’ve had 40 people send me Angine de Poitrine because they think it’s some derivative Primus thing. I get that and I go, brilliant! The world is finally coming around to shit that I like.”
