La Mama Experimental Theatre Club will present COFFEEHOUSE CHRONICLES #183 — AN AFTERNOON WITH Agosto Machado on Saturday, May 30 at 3 p.m. at the Ellen Stewart Theatre.

The event will feature rarely seen excerpts and archival images from productions associated with Agosto Machado , with a focus on work from the 1970s. The program will also include a specially edited audio interview conducted by Sarah Tolen Mee for The Actors Fund.

Featured clips will include selections from Jackie Curtis' Vain Victory (1971), Persia, a Desert Cheapie by John Vaccaro and Bernard Roth (1972), Pushover by Jeff Weiss (1973), Magic Show of Dr. Ma-Gico by Kenneth Bernard (1973), The Kitty Glitter Story by Stephen Holt (1974), and John Jesurun 's Chang in a Void Moon Ep. 67 (2019).

The afternoon will also feature a surprise live guest performance.

Coffeehouse Chronicles is curated by Michal Gamily.

The event will take place at the Ellen Stewart Theatre at La Mama Experimental Theatre Club . Pay-what-you-can tickets begin at $10, with free admission for La MaMa members. Due to popular demand, the event will also be livestreamed worldwide, with free reservations available through RSVP.

La Mama Experimental Theatre Club is dedicated to the artist and all aspects of the theatre. La MaMa's 64th Season, LA MAMA NOW, focuses on creating solidarity and building community, exploring ways to build connections for cross-sector coalition and invite artists, activists, organizers and community members into the creative process.

La MaMa's vision of nurturing new artists and new work from all nations, cultures, races and identities remains as strong today as it was when Ellen Stewart first opened the doors in 1961.
