Concord Music Publishing ANZ has acquired an interest in the publishing catalog of Australian songwriter and producer Julian Hamilton , co-founder of electronic duo The Presets .

The company has also signed Hamilton to a new publishing agreement covering future works and titles outside the acquired portion of his catalog, effective immediately.

The acquisition and signing were announced on  Monday (June 1) .

The deal spans Hamilton ‘s work across four albums by The Presets and includes a share in tracks such as My People , Talk Like That , This Boy’s In Love , Are You The One? , Girl and the Sea and Martini .

The Presets , formed by Hamilton and Kim Moyes , emerged in the mid-2000s and are credited with bringing electronic music into the Australian mainstream.

The duo’s album Apocalypso won Album of the Year at the 2008 ARIA Awards, reached triple-platinum certification in Australia, and featured My People and Talk Like That. Concord says The Presets were the first electronic act to win the award.

In 2009 , Hamilton and Moyes won APRA Songwriters of the Year for their work on Apocalypso .

At the 2008 APRA Music Awards , Hamilton and Daniel Johns won Song of the Year and Most Played Australian Work for Silverchair ‘s Straight Lines .

Beyond The Presets , Hamilton has collaborated with artists including Silverchair , Flight Facilities , Cut Copy , Flume , Bluejuice , Wolf & Cub , Evermore , KLP and The Sleepy Jackson .

His catalog has been sampled by Steve Angello , 3% and Bryson Tiller .

The classically trained Hamilton has also composed music for dance, writing works for the Sydney Dance Company and Chunky Move .

“Partnering with Concord Music Publishing through the sale of a portion of my catalog is a significant milestone for me. I love these songs,” said Hamilton .

“They are the fruit of over three decades of creativity, collaborations and a whole lot of partying.

“I know Concord are going to take great care of them, and I’m proud knowing that these tunes will continue to reach listeners in new ways for years to come.”

> “Julian has amassed an amazing songwriting catalog which I have been in awe of from afar, so it is a special moment to finally be working together.” Jaime Gough , Concord ANZ

Jaime Gough , Managing Director of Concord ANZ , said: “I’ve been a fan of The Presets since I first heard the song Let’s Go!  in 2003. Their early material represented everything that was cool about the early ’00s indie electro/clash scene, and over the following 20 plus years they have soundtracked Australia’s electro dance scene and consistently been the best live electronic act in the country.

“Julian has amassed an amazing songwriting catalog which I have been in awe of from afar, so it is a special moment to finally be working together, and exciting for our team to be collaborating on new opportunities.”

Concord Music Publishing ANZ was formed in 2022 , when Concord acquired Australian publisher Native Tongue in an eight-figure deal.

The Concord ANZ roster includes Sir Dave Dobbyn , Courtney Barnett , The Waifs , Aldous Harding , Glass Beams and Marlon Williams .

The agreement extends a run of publishing acquisitions by Concord , which in April acquired Los Angeles-based Mothership Music Publishing and its catalog of more than 5,000 copyrights.

In March,  Concord   acquired London-based independent label Ninja Tune , whose roster includes  Glass Beams .

Concord Music Publishing  says it owns or administers more than one million copyrighted musical works.

In April,  BMG  and  Concord   confirmed a merger , with  Bertelsmann  taking an approximately  67%  stake in the combined company.

The transaction is expected to close in the second half of  2026 , with  Concord  CEO  Bob Valentine  named CEO of the combined company. Music Business Worldwide
