Fans Upset After Netflix Cancels The Boroughs After One Season
Fans of The Boroughs, the Duffer Brothers show, have reacted with anger and calls to boycott Netflix after the streaming service canceled the series after only one season.

Netflix have come under fire from fans of the TV show The Boroughs , praising the Duffer Brothers-produced show following its cancellation after one season.

The six-episode series starred Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, Geena Davis and Denis O’Hare as residents of a retirement community that become confronted with a strange set of mysteries. It arrived last month to strong reviews and a warm fan reception, but was cancelled after one season , with ratings declining as the season went on.
Viewers have hit out at the decision, expressing their love for the show on X (formerly Twitter). “Tragedy — it was actually a cool show with a interesting premise” wrote one user, with the same account commenting elsewhere: “Huge bummer — first season was actually really interesting and unique!”

One fan despaired: “@netflix cancelled The Boroughs – a great story from the Duffers (who created Stranger Things ). Great actors, meaningful themes, good story… so of course it got cancelled. Has Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodward, Geena Davis – worth watching. Sad – was even top viewed.”

Others pointed to Netflix cancelling shows before their time, such as Boots and Ozark . “We need to boycott Netflix cause this straight bs,” wrote one. “Show was 10/10 like why tf do we still support this weak ass streaming services.” Another exclaimed: “That’s very dissappointing… great cast and writing. I just don’t get it anymore…”

In a four-star review of the series , NME wrote: “Like Stranger Things , The Boroughs is hard to pigeon-hole. There are elements of family drama, shades of comedy and moments of schlocky horror, but it’s just as intriguing as the Netflix hit’s early years.”
Last month, The Boroughs producers The Duffer Brothers stated that they would reveal the fate of Stranger Things character Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) in 2046.
