Grumpy Releases "Twenty Five," First Track Since Last Year's Piebald EP

10:17 AM EDT on June 11, 2026

New Grumpy! The NYC indie project helmed by Heaven Schmitt released the awesome Piebald EP last year, and now they're back with a magnificent new tune called "Twenty Five."

The track is a shoegazy love song inspired by Schmitt's girlfriend and bandmate, Ellie Long. Schmitt explains:

Ellie and I were at home and we were talking about being trans and time travel, and she said she wished she could go back in time and transition at a younger age. I then had such a selfish thought; I worried that, if she went back in time and changed something, what if it altered the future such that we never met? So I told her, if she ever gets the opportunity to travel back in time, make sure she can get back to me and meet me in 2025. The lyrics in the beginning sum it up "when you travel back, leave a clue so that you can still find me when you get to 2025."
