Gwyneth Paltrow Selling Luxury Condos in Israel

Like other great hucksters, Gwyneth Paltrow has not met a product yet she wouldn’t sell. Her Goop lifestyle brand has often been criticized for selling knick-knacks ranging from dumb to dangerous , and she’s now signed on to help an Israeli real estate company peddle luxury condos to Americans.

The ad, which is mostly boring but occasionally so-bad-it’s-funny, was filmed in New York, and finds Paltrow running through a park that we are meant to take as Central Park. The commercial emphasizes how much running sucks — describes it as truly just a dogshit experience. It’s trying to make the point that doing something hard (as it turns out, spending millions of dollars to live within a 30-minute drive of the West Bank) can be worth it.

“There’s a reason the world’s most iconic buildings are by a park,” Paltrow says, getting into a car. She tells the driver to take her to “51 Park.”

“New York?” he wonders. You would think this is a dumb question — after all, they are in New York! Why would he expect her to mean another city? But somehow, he has anticipated her insane request.
