Jade Presents to Close After 36 Years Amid Live Entertainment Challenges
Fargo-Moorhead concert promoter Jade Presents, founded in 1990 by Jade Nielsen, announced its closure after 36 years of operation, citing increasing difficulties within the live entertainment industry.

Jade Presents, a concert promoter in the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area, announced Thursday that it will shut down its operation following a 36-year run due to the mounting challenges in the live entertainment business.
The company, founded by Jade Nielsen in 1990, posted a lengthy statement on its website and social media announcing the “incredibly painful” closure, citing rising costs and the evolution of the business making it difficult on independent promoters.
“The reality is that the live entertainment industry changed dramatically over the past several years,” Jade Presents wrote in its statement. “Rising costs, shifting touring economics, post-COVID challenges, and increasing pressure on independent promoters created an environment that ultimately became unsustainable. Our team fought incredibly hard to keep this going for as long as possible.”
Announced events are currently in limbo, but Jade Presents confirmed that Bluestem and UP District Festival Field shows will no longer move forward. The promoter said they will inform ticketholders of the status of other upcoming shows when they are able.
Upcoming concerts include Chris Cagle, Foghat, Firehouse and Lita Ford at the Fargodome, as well as Goo Goo Dolls with Neon Trees at Alerus Center and three dates of David Sedaris at RCU Theatre at Pablo Center.
“There are still many moving parts, ongoing conversations, and unanswered questions we are actively working through as logistical and legal details continue to evolve,” they said. “Because legal matters are still unfolding, we cannot yet provide definitive information regarding ticketing, refunds, reimbursements, credits, claims, or related processes. We understand those questions are important, and we will continue sharing verified information as we are able.”
The promoter goes on to thank the community and its partners for what they accomplished over the past three decades.
“Beyond the logistics, there is a very human side to this moment. We are mourning the loss of a company, a mission, and work we genuinely loved,” the company stated. “To everyone who supported Jade Presents over the years: thank you. We are heartbroken but deeply grateful for the artists, audiences, partners, venues, vendors, sponsors, employees, and community members who believed in what Jade Presents was building and were part of this journey.”
