Jello Biafra "Progressing Nicely" After Stroke
Punk icon Jello Biafra's personal assistant reports positive progress following his stroke earlier this year.

Jello Biafra is on the road to recovery following a stroke he suffered earlier this year. The punk legend is “progressing nicely” according to an update on his social media accounts.
As previously reported, Biafra suffered a hemorrhagic stroke caused by high blood pressure on March 7th, with the former Dead Kennedys singer stating, “I hopped out of my bed because I needed to pee, and my left leg just collapsed under me and I fell to the floor. I couldn’t even break the fall with my left arm because it wasn’t working either. I tried to hop back up again, and I couldn’t. I realized I had ‘fallen and I can’t get up!’ It was this point I thought, ‘Oh shit, I’m having a stroke! I still have a lot of great stuff in me, but right now I gotta lotta of rehabbing to do.’”
Now, in a new Facebook post, his associate at Alternative Tentacles Records / personal assistant Anne-Marie Anderson has offered the following update:
“Jello is progressing nicely. His speech has mostly come back in full, and cognitively, it’s like the stroke never happened. The left side is still weak but it is doing much better than it was. He has been living with me so I can care for him, but he is so much more self sufficient than he was, he will most likely go home this coming week. Thank you again for the outpouring of support. It has meant the world to him.”
