June McDoom’s “Get Out Of My Life” offers a delightful cleanse of negative energy

I don't know what June McDoom is ridding herself of on her latest single "Get Out Of My Life," but she makes the process sound delightful. On the second offering of her forthcoming debut album Follow The Light , McDoom washes herself clean of negative, draining energy with whimsical folk-pop.

"Get Out Of My Life," she repeats over stained glass vocals and a playfully curious melody. The drum plumes and echoey patter, recall Kate Bush. It's both jaunty and fierce. Her true inner spirit guides her away from brutal forces. She searches for freedom, for brightness. "The light always finds the sky/ A new day's a home safe to try," she sings later in the track. At the end, the song slides into a reggae rhythm and a recorder solo. It's magical and makes me want to frolic.
