Keanu Reeves Reunites With ‘Toy Story 4’ Director for Live-Action LEGO Hybrid Film

Keanu Reeves is in negotiations to star in a new LEGO movie from Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley, reports Deadline .

Described as a live-action hybrid, the currently untitled film will reunite Reeves with Cooley after the actor debuted the stuntman action figure Duke Caboom in 2019’s Toy Story 4 . It’s unclear whether Reeves will voice a character or play one on-screen.

This latest LEGO movie comes from Universal Pictures, which acquired the rights to the property in 2020 and previously tapped creatives including Jake Kasdan, Patty Jenkins, and Joe Cornish for live-action projects that never saw the light of day. The studio’s rights to LEGO are reportedly set to expire in the next six months if it doesn’t enter pre-production within that window.

Warner Bros. made several LEGO movies beginning in 2014, starting with The LEGO Movie and including 2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie , as well as The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part .

The first LEGO film from Universal was the 2024 box-office dud Piece by Piece , the animated biopic about the life and career of Pharrell Williams.

Meanwhile, Reeves recently reprised his role as Duke Caboom in Toy Story 5 .
