Kiley Williams Returns to The Capitol Theatre as General Manager

The Capitol Theatre is bringing back one of its own to lead the charge. The Portchester, New York theatre announced that its new general manager is Kiley Williams, who worked as a bartender at the building before taking on leadership roles in Nashville and Boston venues.

It’s a full-circle moment for Williams, whose first foray into the live entertainment industry was as an editorial intern at Relix magazine in 2015. She spent that summer attending festivals and quickly became enamored with the live experience. Later that year, she worked as a bartender at The Capitol Theatre, and her first show was headlined by The Decemberists.

Williams began taking on other roles at the historic theatre, working in artist hospitality and supporting the production and marketing teams. She also assisted artist operations at events such as the LOCKN’ Festival.

She relocated to Nashville in 2020 to work with the team that launched Brooklyn Bowl Nashville. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Williams helped prepare the venue for its opening and then worked in operations under the mentorship of industry veteran Sara Barnett. Williams served as an operations manager and eventually rose to director of operations, overseeing more than 600 shows during her tenure.

Williams then served as general manager of House of Blues Boston before returning to where it all started.

“The Capitol Theatre is the venue that raised me,” Williams said in a statement. “This building, this team, and this community have played such an important role in my professional journey. I’m honored to return and lead a venue that means so much to me, and I’m excited to continue building on its incredible legacy while creating unforgettable experiences for artists and fans alike.”

The Capitol Theatre is entering its second century as one of the country’s premier live music venues. Its rich history includes performances from iconic acts such as David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan and Joan Baez.

Hiring Williams as general manager signifies The Capitol Theatre’s commitment to empowering leaders who understand the venue’s culture and its role within the live music community.

“As we celebrate The Capitol Theatre’s 100th year, there’s something really special about welcoming Kiley home,” said Peter Shapiro, owner of The Capitol Theatre. “She started her journey here and has spent the last decade growing into a leader in the industry. Along the way, she’s shown her passion and care for artists, fans, and her teams. Kiley knows this place, believes in what it stands for, and understands the community that makes it unique. We’re psyched to welcome her back as GM and excited for the future of The Capitol Theatre under her leadership.”
