There's nothing quite like the feeling of hearing a raging, seething, ass-kicking punk song in a language that you don't speak — not knowing exactly what they're saying but fully getting it anyway. Helsinki's Kohti Tuhoa have given me that feeling over and over again. The band works within the rich tradition of Finnish D-beat, and they only sing in their native language, but I have never once been confused by one of their records because "fuck these motherfucking oppressors" is a universal sentiment. (The name Kohti Tuhoa is Finnish for "towards destruction," if that helps situate them for you.)
