Larry Jackson’s Gamma files lawsuit to unmask creators of smear websites

May 27, 2026 By Music Business Worldwide

Gamma has filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court seeking to identify the anonymous creators of an online smear campaign.

The lawsuit seeks to unmask the makers of two websites that accuse the company and its Co-Founder and CEO, Larry Jackson , of streaming fraud, embezzlement, and financial mismanagement – sites that Gamma says operate “without even a semblance of truth or accountability.”

The 12 -page complaint, filed on Tuesday (May 26) and reviewed by MBW , brings three causes of action: defamation, trade libel, and unfair competition under New York common law.

According to the filing, on or about April 23, 2026 – just two days after Bloomberg published what the complaint describes as a “positive and factually grounded story” about Jackson and Gamma – one or more unknown persons launched websites at the domains larryjacksonexposed.com and gammaexposed.com.

The sites refer to Jackson as “Larry Scammson” and to Gamma as “SCAMMA,” framing the company as a fraudulent enterprise, the complaint states.

Among the specific allegations the complaint identifies as false: the sites claim that Gamma ‘s reported sales figures for Kanye West ‘s album Bully were inflated through bot-generated purchases, stating that “the last minute billboard bot fraud plan didn’t work” and that West “did higher numbers releasing independently.”

The sites also allege, according to the complaint, that Jackson “is down to his last [USD] 10m of the 100m he raised” and accuse him of “embezzling investor funds for private flights, grandiose lifestyle, personal PR and legacy artist signings to enhance image and status.”

Further allegations cited in the filing include claims that Jackson lied to Gamma staff about a contractual clause with West , and that the company was “laundering” money for Mariah Carey while inflating her album’s first-week numbers.

The complaint also identifies as false the sites’ claims that Carey and Usher had each made a “Quiet Exit” from the company.

The filing states that the unnamed defendants “knew the statements were false at the time of publication or acted with reckless disregard for their truth or falsity.”

The filing describes what it calls a coordinated social media amplification campaign designed to spread the sites’ content.

On or about April 25–26 , according to the complaint, a bot network consisting of hundreds of X (formerly Twitter ) accounts – all created in December 2025 and having zero other activity – posted links to or reposts of the websites’ content within a 12 -minute window.

A Reddit account using the handle “Judith_Ackee” was also identified as posting identical language to that found on the websites, the complaint states. That account has since been banned.

The filing alleges that the websites were “fully formed on their launch day” and “appear to have been built using an AI -powered content platform,” with their hosting server’s IP address concealed behind a content delivery network.

According to the complaint, on or about May 7 , Page Six published an article discussing the larryjacksonexposed.com website, reporting that it and its companion site had been “passed around the music industry’s C-suites.”

The Page Six article was primarily focused on a separate smear campaign targeting WME Group executive chairman Ari Emanuel – suggesting a broader pattern of anonymous defamation campaigns directed at entertainment industry executives.

The complaint characterizes the campaign as “reputational warfare” and states: “ Gamma and its artists are being subjected to a new and insidious form of corporate interference and harassment, unique to the social media and artificial intelligence age, in which anonymous actors deploy bot networks to astroturf a false narrative into the public consciousness without even a semblance of truth or accountability.”

It adds: “ Gamma has no choice but to fight back, not only for itself but also for its investors, business partners, employees, and artists, against those who would weaponize technology to destroy reputations and livelihoods behind a veil of anonymity.”

Gamma says it has conducted a thorough investigation, including hiring forensic investigators, but has been unable to identify the perpetrators without legal process.

The company is seeking compensatory damages , punitive damages, an injunction forcing the defendants to take down the sites, and a jury trial.

Gamma is represented by Jason H. Sunshine of Liner Freedman Taitelman + Cooley, LLP , the Los Angeles -based entertainment litigation firm.

Jackson , formerly the Global Creative Director of Apple Music , launched Gamma in March 2023 with financial backing from Todd Boehly ‘s Eldridge Industries , Apple , and A24 .

The company was positioned as a high-tech alternative to traditional record labels, handling artist development, recording, distribution, and marketing through its technology platform, Vydia .

In early 2024 , Gamma confirmed a $100 million investment led by Alpha Wave Global , which valued the company at $400 million – less than a year after its launch. Music Business Worldwide
