It comes from Glasgow indie artist Lucia Fairfull’s upcoming album ‘Picking Petals’, the follow up to her 2023 debut record ‘Burning Castles’. The new LP is out on July 31 via Communion Records and you can pre-order it  here .

Lucia has already shared the singles  ‘Lonely Girl’ featuring Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry  and ‘ You Look Like Somebody In Love ’, and now she is back with ‘Big Romance’, a collaboration with her longtime friend and former bandmate Morris.

The Last Dinner Party frontwoman once played a string of live shows on keyboards with Lucia & The Best Boys, and they sync up seamlessly on ‘Big Romance’, a baroque indie pop earworm touched with goth drama.

Speaking about working with Morris on the track, Fairfull has said: “She’s the one who pushed me to keep going with the song. I started writing that when I was 22. It’s lived through so many different lives.”

Lucia & The Best Boys teamed up with acclaimed alt-pop producer Yves Rothman for the new album and recorded it in  Mogwai ’s Castle of Doom studios in Glasgow. It is centred around themes of persistence and acceptance and was inspired by Fairfull’s Scottish heritage.

Later this year, Lucia & The Best Boys will be playing some of her biggest shows to date, including a headline homecoming show at Glasgow’s Barrowlands on October 23. She will also play at the  Isle Of Wight Festival next month, and you can see all of the dates below. Visit here  for tickets.

Lucia & The Best Boys’ 2026 UK tour dates are:

JUNE

21 – Isle of Wight Festival

JULY

2 – Wilderness Festival, Oxford

16 – Summer’s End Angus, Brechin, Scotland

OCTOBER

23 – Glasgow Barrowland

26 – Band on the Wall, Manchester

28 – Islington Academy, London

Back in 2019, Lucia spoke to  NME  about “leading Glasgow’s young, vital glam renaissance” and her growth as an artist.

“I think at first when you start doing this, you really care about the way you come across, and end up comparing and judging yourself a bit too much. This year, I discovered that I don’t really give a fuck,” she said.

“I like the feeling of not knowing what I’m gonna do next. I think it’s more interesting. Nobody has to do one thing. I don’t just like punk music. I don’t just like disco music. I don’t just like pop music. Why not combine everything you love into one? Express yourself truly and it says a lot more.”

The Last Dinner Party, meanwhile,  released the single ‘Big Dog’ earlier this month, alongside a spoken word piece ‘Come All You Beasts’ . It was their first release since their second album ‘ From The Pyre ’ last year.

They are also set to  support Wolf Alice at Finsbury Park this summer and will head out on tour with Olivia Rodrigo  and  Sombr  later this year.
