Marmalade-Filled Vinyl Soundtrack for Paddington: The Musical Announced

The makers of the  Saltburn   “cloudy bathwater” vinyl are releasing a marmalade-filled record for the  Paddington: The Musical  soundtrack.

Blood Records/Bad World released a special-edition LP for the  Saltburn  soundtrack in 2024  that was filled with a liquid that was billed as bathwater, in reference to one of the most X-rated and notorious scenes from the Emerald Fennell movie.

Now, the same label has announced another liquid-filled vinyl release to tie in with the soundtrack to the West End musical version of  Paddington .

The musical  features lyrics by Tom Fletcher of McFly  with a book by playwright Jessica Swale ( Blue Stockings ,  Nell Gwynn ), and it opened at the Savoy Theatre in London last November. It is based on the original Michael Bond book  A Bear Called Paddington  from 1958, as well as  the celebrated recent big-screen adaptations .

Bad World have partnered with the musical to produce a vinyl release that is filled with a liquid designed to resemble marmalade, with added orange peel. The albums can be purchased here  from its release on May 22, and will also be available at the Savoy Theatre.

The CEO of Blood Records Craig Evans spoke to  NME  in 2024  about the  Saltburn  record going viral. When asked whether he had been taken aback by the response to it, he answered: “No, I haven’t actually been that surprised by it.”

“We knew it was gonna be very evocative,” he added. “And it was sort of the perfect thing, because obviously  Saltburn itself was supposed to shock people, and we wanted to match that with a product that equally shocked people. In terms of responses, some of the national press headlines have been fairly amusing. We’ve been laughing at all the ways the tabloid media can avoid saying the word ‘semen’.”

Paddington: The Musical  has been the recipient of seven Olivier Awards, nine WhatsOnStage Awards and also picked up the Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Musical.

The soundtrack album has been arranged, orchestrated and produced by Matt Brind and features vocals from the complete West End cast, recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
