Maya Hawke and Nell Fisher Reteam for Netflix Thriller 'The God Of The Woods'

Stranger Things stars Maya Hawke and Nell Fisher are set to reunite in new Netflix  series The God Of The Woods .

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Liz Moore, the new show will see Hawke – best known for playing Robin Buckley on Stranger Things  – take on the role of investigator Judy Luptack, who looks into the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl.

Fisher, who portrayed Holly Wheeler in the final season of the sci-fi series, will play the missing girl Barbara Van Laar, while other announced cast members include The Banshees of Inisherin ’s Kerry Condon as Barbara’s mother Alice and Bates Motel ’s Damon Gupton as Denny Hayes.

Also on board are The Idea Of You ’s Ella Rubin as Louise Donnadieu, The Politician ’s Susannah Perkins as T.J. Hewitt, The Rings Of Power ’s Benjamin Walker as Peter Van Laar III, and The Lost Bus ’ Autumn Molina as Tracy Jewell.

“ The God of the Woods is a multigenerational drama series set in the Adirondacks,” the synopsis reads. “It explores the Van Laar family’s dark secrets, class tensions, and the mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from her family’s summer camp — in the wake of an earlier family tragedy that may be related.

“As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’ wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power.”

Author Moore will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer on the series alongside Mindhunter’ s Liz Hannah.

“We love making TV and can’t wait to bring The God of the Woods to life with our partners at Sony and Netflix,” Moore and Hannah said (via Tudum ). “We hope everyone falls in love (and hate) with these characters as much as we have.”

Stranger Things came to its conclusion at the end of 2025 on New Year’s Eve, and Hawke has since opened up about experiencing a negative mental state following the finale .

Speaking on Consequence ’s Kyle Meredith With… podcast , the star said she had a “fear of never working again, fear of not being a good actor — like just having been well cast in this one big thing that knew how to use me right and then I was going to lose [that]”.

“And that I didn’t know anything else and that I just sucked. I was just really scared and lonely and I was really worried about it all,” she added. “And so to be now a year past that year of sad and feeling like there’s so much stuff in the cannon, I’m really grateful and feeling really proud and happy.”

Earlier this year, Hawke married partner Christian Lee Hutson in a surprise Valentine’s Day ceremony in New York, with a number of Stranger Things castmates in attendance.
