New Music Friday: 14 New Songs from of Montreal, Converge, and More
Friday brings a wave of new music, featuring 14 new songs from artists like of Montreal, Zoh Amba, Case Oats, Sheer Terror, THÆTAS, Converge, SLIFT, and Alexandre DePlume.

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out . We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
OF MONTREAL – “ALREADY DREAMING”
We’re a month away from of Montreal’s new album aethermead and here’s a new single from it. “I wrote this song while still living in Vermont,” says Kevin Barnes. “I can see now that it was a sad augury for the end of my 8 year relationship and the close of that important chapter of my life. As sad as the song is, it does point to new beginnings and the blind hopefulness inherent in ripping it up and starting again.”

CONVERGE – “DOOM IN BLOOM”
Converge’s second album of 2026, Hum of Hurt , is out next month, and they’ve given us a second taste with “Doom in Bloom.” “It’s dark and pointed right at you,” Jacob Bannon says. “Lyrically, I’m exploring how my own middle-aged introspection doesn’t always bring a brighter light. I see my own trappings reflected in those around me. Here I am imploring them to slip the noose to see another day.”
—
LA SÉCURITÉ – “DENY”
“Initially written in French and translated to English, the song deals with dysfunctional relationships and getting rid of burdens in your life,” La Sécurité say of their new single. “Standing up for yourself. This doesn’t work for me; I’m out. The bass hook was stolen from Standard Emmanuel, Félix’s solo project.” New album Bingo! is out in a month.
—
MIRACLE – “PVC VEST”
Synth pop duo Miracle (featuring Zombi’s Steve Moore and Ulver’s Daniel O’Sullivan) have announced their third LP and first release in over eight years, The Living Likeness of my Electric Daemon , due out June 26 via Relapse. The first single is the dark, menacing “PVC Vest.”
—
ZOH AMBA – “EYES FULL”
Zoh Amba’s solo debut Eyes Full is out next month via Matador and they’ve shared the title track.
—
100 DEMONS – “HAXAN HAMMER”
100 Demons’ first album in over 20 years, Embrace the Black Light , is out in June, and they’ve given us a second preview with “Häxan Hammer.” Pete Morcey says it’s “the only complete 100 Demons song making it to the new release that was actually written many years ago. Dealing with post apocalyptic themes and how an ‘end of the world scenario’ could bring together the most unlikely of alliances.”
—
SLIFT – “THE DAY OF EXECUTION”
Here’s a very cool animated video for “The Day of Execution” from French band SLIFT’s new album Fantasia . They say: “’The Day Of Execution’ is about the effect of time passing on each and every one of us, and about memory loss. It portrays the nostalgia that creeps into us as time goes by. Fantasia is such an ancient city that it no longer remembers itself, and this gradually alienates its inhabitants.”
—
WOUNDED TOUCH – “A WEAPON IN GOD’S COUNTRY” (FT. 156/SILENCE’S JACK MURRAY)
Michigan metalcore band Wounded Touch release a new three-song EP, They Promised Eden (Vol. 1) , this Friday (5/8) via Smartpunk. Ahead of that they’ve unveiled “A Weapon in God’s Country,” which features vocals from Jack Murray of 156/Silence. “Lyrically, the song is about an anticipated and not-so-distant foreseeable conflict where a unified common man wages a secular holy war against the upper echelon of the technocratic class, the anti-human collective of leadership in the field of surveillance, data mining and constructing of data centers,” vocalist Nick Holland says. “It depicts the collective human spirit, after suffering enough of their inhumanity, casting its divisions aside and waging a brutal crusade against their systems of weaponry and surveillance.”
—
THÆTAS – “FOR THE HOPE DEVOID”
New York brutal metallers THÆTAS are releasing their new album, The Irredeemable Age , on June 26 via Profound Lore, and the first single is “For the Hope Devoid.”

CASE OATS – “BOTTOM OF AN AFTERNOON”
Case Oats, the duo of Casey Gomez Walker and Spencer Tweedy, have shared their first new music since their 2025 debut album Last Missouri Exit . About “Bottom of an Afternoon,” Walker says, “This song is a mantra for grief. As a kid I read Aesop’s Fables and was comforted by the idea that there’s always a moral to draw from an experience. As an adult, I find myself calling out asking ‘why?’, begging for visits from ghosts, holding on to any lesson I can find in the pages of books.”
—
SHEER TERROR – “SQUAT DIDDLER”
NYHC vets Sheer Terror are releasing a new mini-LP, Let These Be Our Troubles , this winter, and they’ve given us a preview with “Squat Diddler.”
