New Music Friday: 16 New Songs From Margaret Glaspy, Bedouine, and More

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out . We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

TEED – “ANOTHER DAY”

TEED’s entry in the long-running DJ-Kicks mix series is out June 26 and features five exclusive tracks made just for the comp, including this airy banger.

CAPTAIN MURPHY – “MUDHOLE” (FT. FLYING LOTUS & LITTLE SNAKE)

Flying Lotus has brought back his rapper alter ego Captain Murphy with “Mudhole,” which he wrote for Kenji Tanigaki’s new film The Furious . It features production from his Brainfeeder labelmate Little Snake, and Lilfuchs created the accompanying video.

MARGARET GLASPY – “MICHIGAN”

Margaret Glaspy has announced new album I Am Both which will be out August 7 via ATO. It was produced by Joe Henry and “Michigan” is the first single. “I was in Michigan a couple years back and had a really beautiful time, and thought about how New Yorkers sometimes fantasize about the countryside as a retreat from the intensity of the city,” Glaspy says. “It turned into a song about someone going through a bad breakup, and then deciding to just leave the city behind.”

CITIZEN – “HALCYON BLUES”

Citizen have given us another taste of their new album Halcyon Blues with the title track. Vocalist Mat Kerekes says it’s “about a silent disconnect between two people. You both know you’re no longer meant to be in each other’s lives but instead of accepting it, you sit in the space between and watch one another become strangers in real time.”

BEDOUINE – “ONE THING RIGHT”

Bedouine’s new album Neon Summer Skin is out this Friday and here’s one last early taste before getting your hands on the whole thing. “‘One Thing Right’ celebrates the concept of chosen family; the ones that help us feel at home even when we’re far from where we started,” says Bedouine of this flute-forward song.

SEUN KUTI & EGYPT 80 – “NA DEM” (FT. TOM MORELLO)

“I strongly wanted to collaborate with Tom Morello because he represents the ultimate expression of protest music,” Seun Kuti says of his new single with Egypt 80, “Na Dem,” which features the Rage Against the Machine co-founder and guitarist. “Beyond any musical genre, we need artists like him. Just as my father did in the past and I do now, we need to convey messages that make listeners reflect.”

ANTON PEARSON (SQUID) – “TEETH TO CUT THE GRASS”

Squid guitarist Anton Pearson will release solo album Driving Through Belgium on July 3 and here’s a preview via the noisy/ambient instrumental “Teeth to Cut Grass.” Pearson says, “I tried to build some drones here that felt more abrasive and less comfortable in a kind of overwhelming way. For the end I ramped up all that noise and fed in more drones, abandoning any sense of tonality. I pushed a bunch of these through amps to give more growly harshness. It’s probably the most uncomfortable part of the record but I felt it was needed to ground the more tranquil moments.”

CRO-MAGS – “WIRE FOR CHAOS”

Cro-Mags are back with their first new single in 6 years, “Wired for Chaos,” which is out via BLKIIBLK. “The song title ‘Wired for Chaos’ was taken directly from the recent documentary of the same name,” Harley Flanagan says. “It comes in with an aggressive metal intro befitting a UFC walk-in or a video game, then bursts into a more traditional HC thrash vibe before returning to a heavy beatdown at the end in an unmistakable CRO-MAGS style. The song is literally about being programmed and wired for chaos from birth, not just by environment, but by parents, trauma, childhood experiences, and the resulting PTSD that I personally struggle with as a result.”

MORTIIS – “TUNDRA, HEART OF HELL”

Dungeon synth master Mortiis will release his new album, Ghosts of Europa on June 26 via Prophecy Productions, and the latest preview is “Tundra, Heart of Hell.” “For some reason the word ‘Tundra’ has been a recurring word in my life, and I attached it to various songs and lyrics over time, though very few ever came to any sort of fruition,” he says. “In fact, the earliest versions of this song was called ‘Tundra’ or even ‘Thundra’ (because it sounded cooler) before I decided to add ‘Heart Of Hell’ to add some context. A big chunk of these lyrics also harken back to the time between ‘The Stargate’ and ‘The Smell Of Rain.'”

TASHA – “YOU ARE SPRING!”

NYC-based singer-songwriter Tasha will release new album You Are Spring! on June 26 via Bayonet and this is the title track which is both bright and dirgey.

HAMMOK – “BLAST OFF (BLAST OFF) BLAST OFF”

“The video for ‘Blast Off’ is made from footage from what we call ‘The Hammok House Party,’” says Hammok’s Tobias Osland. “For every single release throughout this campaign, we have thrown an invite-only house party show. This was to celebrate the song coming out, but most importantly to create real space for our community and our scene, to practice what this album is all about. Finding your people, building a home, building a scene.” Hammock’s new album When Does This Place Become Our Scene is out Friday.

REAL NUMBERS – “NEVER NEVER AGAIN”

Minneapolis’ Real Numbers have announced new album Was It Always This Way which will be out August 14 via Slumberland. If you dig ’80s janglepop, “Never Never Again” will scratch that itch.

HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR FEATURING HIPS & LIPS – “I GET HIGH”

NYC’s Hercules & Love Affair are celebrating Pride 2026 with a new EP, Danseur, which was just released via Stratasonic Records. The lead single is the ecstatic “I Get High” featuring “Hips & Lips.”

IBIBIO SOUND MACHINE – “CONCEPT OF LOVE”

UK collective Ibibio Sound Machine have announced new album Chopping Mountain and this is the terrific, joyous, afro-house disco banger of a new single.

WEEZER – “WE MIGHT AS WELL BE STRANGERS” (FT. WEDNESDAY’S KARLY HARTZMAN)

Weezer officially announced their new self-titled album, the Gold Album, and gave us a preview with “We Might As Well Be Strangers,” which features Karly Hartzman of Wednesday. Read more about it here .
