New Music Friday: Pearl & The Oysters, Funambuilst, Parts & Labor, Wailin Storms, and Cola Drop New Singles

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out . We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

FUNAMBULIST (CAROLINE GLASER & KEVIN DEVINE) – “HATCHERY”

Caroline Glaser and Kevin Devine are Funambulist and they’ve been releasing songs on Kevin’s Bandcamp since last year. “Hatchery” is bewitching folk that Caroline says was inspired by her visiting her grandpa in Neosho, MO a few years ago before his death.

WAILIN STORMS – “THE ARSONIST”

North Carolina’s Wailin Storms have announced new album The Arsonist which will be out July 10 via Season of Mist. It was produced by Matt Talbott of Hum and the title track is full-on Southern Gothic.

PARTS & LABOR – “HAUNTED LIMBS”

“Expanding on the album’s theme of Utopia, ‘Haunted Limbs’ blurs the line between the challenges of building a better world and some straightforward shit about restarting a band after 15 years ,” says Parts & Labor’s Dan Friel. “The lyric ‘It haunts us like a limb we haven’t grown yet” pretty much sums it all up. The song comes out sounding more like vintage Parts & Labor than a lot of the record, but pushes things forward in a way that is impossible to miss from the minute you press play.” Set Of All Sets is out July 10.

COLA – “HAVELUCK COUNTRY”

Montreal band Cola will release new album Cost of Living Adjustment on Friday and here’s one last preview before the whole thing drops.

PEARL & THE OYSTERS – “DOOM MOOD”

LA’s Pearl & The Oysters have announced new album Monkey Mind which they made with producer Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood) and will be out June 26 via Stones Throw. “Doom Mood” finds them expanding their loungey sound.
