The new announcement comes in celebration of the Boston band celebrating their 40th anniversary – having already announced a UK and European tour for 2026 and lined-up numerous festival appearances for this summer.
Now, they have confirmed the re-release of their ‘Complete B-Sides: 1988-97’ album, 25 years after its initial release.
The record first dropped on CD in 2001 and contained 19 B-sides from their classic ‘4AD’ era which ran between 1988 and 1991. Songs included ‘Wave Of Mutilation (UK Surf)’, ‘Into The White’, ‘Bailey’s Walk’, and ‘The Thing’, and it dropped as the group were almost a decade into a hiatus.
Set for re-release on June 26, the record has been remastered and will be arriving as a 40th anniversary edition. As well as being released as a double CD, the record will also be pressed onto vinyl for the first time.
The original tracklist spans three sides of vinyl, and for the first time there will also be a fourth side of bonus live tracks added. These feature six tracks culled from latter Pixies single releases including 1997’s ‘Debaser’ re-release. Visit here to pre-order.
The new release comes as a companion piece to the recent reissue of Pixies’ ‘Live At The BBC’ compilation. For that, designer Chris Bigg created new art for the cover, using photos of Black Francis and co. from Simon Larbalestier’s archive that were previously shelved.
As part of their UK tour dates, next month will see Pixies play a huge UK outdoor gig at On The Mount at Wasing . Festival dates include a headlining slot at Bearded Theory , an appearance at NOS Alive in Portugal , and a spot at the 10th anniversary edition of Mad Cool in Madrid . Find tickets here .
Their ninth and latest studio album, ‘The Night The Zombies Came’ , was released in 2024. Speaking to NME around that time , the group discussed the possibility of performing more of their classic albums in full on tour after doing so with ‘Trompe le Monde’ and ‘Bossanova’ .
“As a fan, I love those things,” said Joey Santiago. “We went to ‘Aja’, the Steely Dan show. It’s incredible knowing that it’s going to be all of ‘Aja’ and right behind me were all the drummers – Danny [Carey] from Tool , Josh Freese, Pat Wilson were all behind me watching it.
“I’m just saying Steely Dan’s cool…The only thing about doing it in order is that Charles and I have to switch guitars. So there’s a lot of that going on, so it disrupts the show a little bit. But we like doing it.”
