New single “Empath” showcases the evolving toughness of Russian Circles’ sound. Where earlier material had an airy, flowing sense of beauty and grandeur, this track comes in swinging, bringing a noise rock heft and pinching vibes from the current crop of screamo-inspired black metal acts.

The balance of recording in Steve Albini’s studio with Kurt Ballou behind the boards can be felt; this is a raw, real track that conveys the primal force music like this carries in a live environment.
In addition to their headlining dates, Russian Circles will support the reunited Acid Bath at their show in Seattle on August 8th ( get tickets here ).
