Stevie Wonder, U2, and Bruce Springsteen to Headline Obama Presidential Center Opening
The Obama Presidential Center in Chicago’s South Side will open on June 18 with star-studded performances by Stevie Wonder, U2, and Bruce Springsteen. Other performers include Bono and The Edge.

The Obama Foundation announced that the Obama Presidential Center will open on June 18 in Chicago’s South Side and will feature star-studded performances headlined by Stevie Wonder, U2, and Bruce Springsteen. Other performers set to soundtrack the event include Bono, The Edge, Eddie Vedder, Common, Marc Anthony, Tems, The Roots, Christina Aguilera, John Legend and Jennifer Hudson.
According to the Obama Foundation’s website , the special invite-only ceremony is set to “bring together global leaders, artists, changemakers, and citizens” to celebrate the “values that shaped the Obama presidency and continue to power civic engagement.”
Valerie Jarrett, CEO of The Obama Foundation, issued a statement regarding the historic celebration, saying: “This Grand Opening ceremony will be unlike any other — filled with music, performances, and hope…The Grand Opening Ceremony will reflect a spirit of inspiration and joy, with a big boost from the performers who are sharing their talent with us. We hope to inspire people everywhere to believe in their power to bring change home.”
The ceremony will take place at Chicago’s John Lewis Plaza, beginning at 11 a.m. CT. The Obama Foundation is planning to livestream the Grand Opening Ceremony globally at the same time here .
The Obama Presidential Center officially opens to the public on Friday, June 19.
