Strawberry Hands Previews New Album with "Song Of Descent"

Jacob Brunner releases the third Strawberry Hands album next week. So far the Philly musician has teased A Jazz Blessing For The Animal with the compelling singles " Dream Of Water " and " What Plant Jumps Over Me? ," and today he's sharing "Song Of Descent."

"These are briefings from the tail end of a major depression; a report from the other side while still covered in the sludge of the underworld," Brunner says. "After my long journey, there is a sober hope: my descent from a bridge or into hell has transmuted into a more productive descent into the unconscious, where the wisdom of impermanence and uncertainty has loosened my knuckles."

"Song Of Descent" unfurls hauntingly, but by the end it ascends into an almost holy, psalm-like place. The eeriness is enhanced by a Joseph Paul Alvarado-directed music video with pig masks and fire. Watch below.
