The Rocky Horror Picture Show to Get Sphere Treatment in 2027
Richard O'Brien's

For over 50 years now, The Rocky Horror Picture Show has proven itself as a draw for theater audiences. Now, it’s about to hit one of the biggest screens in the world: The Las Vegas Sphere .
The first movie adapted to fit the 160,000-square-foot venue, The Wizard of Oz , has so far earned $400 million in ticket sales with three million tickets sold. So it’s not surprising that the venue is interested in expanding to additional titles, though Richard O’Brien’s cult favorite will certainly draw a very different, fishnetted crowd.
Said owner Jimmy Dolan in a statement, “Since The Rocky Horror Picture Show premiered in 1975, it redefined audience participation and became a cultural phenomenon. With Sphere, we have the opportunity to take that spirit of immersion to an entirely new level.”

While those who have actually experienced Sphere’s version of The Wizard of Oz have gone so far as to call it the opposite of art , there is artistic potential to be found in the venue — and maybe Rocky Horror will be the project to unlock it. No creative team has yet been announced for the project.
