After years of rumours and speculation , Xbox confirmed that Crazy Taxi was finally making a return. Crazy Taxi World Tour is set to launch next year for PlayStation 5 , PC , Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.
“It’s time for crazy driving, crazy adventure, and crazy money! Crazy Taxi is back and going global,” reads a description of the game. “In this new high-octane adventure, follow Axel as he chases down the mysterious masked villains who stole his beloved taxi. Tackle extreme missions around the world all while earning some crazy money!”
Crazy Taxi wasn’t the only classic franchise confirmed to be getting a revival at the Xbox Games Showcase. A new Spyro The Dragon adventure is set to launch in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond is the first new Spyro game since 2008 and has been developed by Toys For Bob, who were behind the Reignited remake trilogy.
“Take flight in a brand-new journey through a strange and wondrous realm. When Spyro finds himself stranded, his journey to discover a way home is interrupted by the arrival of a vicious invading force known as the Scavs. Spyro must make new allies and rise to protect this realm before it’s changed forever,” explains a description of the game.
Elsewhere during the Xbox Games Showcase, it was confirmed Persona 4 Revival will launch February 18 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation and PC. A brand new Persona game was also announced.
“The highly anticipated next chapter of the iconic RPG series delivers a bold, new standalone story blending heartfelt daily life and new characters with pulse-pounding, supernatural adventure,” reads the description for Persona 6 . “Whether it’s your first Persona game or you’ve been here since the beginning, this one’s for you.”
Microsoft also shared the first gameplay footage of the upcoming Gears Of War: E Day ( check it out here ) ahead of its release later this year. The release of the long-awaited remake Halo: Combat Evolved was confirmed for July 28 while Doom: The Dark Ages is set to get an expansion on July 7.
“Hell freezes over in Doom: The Dark Ages | Revelations , an all-new campaign expansion unleashing a brutal new chapter of the Slayer’s saga,” reads a blog post from developers Bethesda Softworks. “Featuring new levels with deeper puzzles, new demons and new mysteries, Revelations also adds new dimensions to combat with the deadly ‘Chain Spear’, offering returning Slayers a uniquely satisfying combat system that rewards mastery with a potent combination of power and mobility.”
During the event, it was also confirmed Microsoft was backtracking on its recent “experiment” in releasing exclusive titles on rival consoles. “As part of our focus on the return of Xbox, Gears Of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be Xbox console exclusives. These are not timed exclusives,” explained a blog post.
“We want people to have a reason to get on board with Xbox. We want them to have reason to buy an Xbox, a reason to be an Xbox fan. We know that exclusives are important,” explained Xbox’s Chief Content Officer Matt Booty in an interview with Gamertag . “We’re going to keep thinking about this going forward. It’s going to be case by case, but we’re going to be clear about platforms when our game gets a date.”
In other news, Epic Games has confirmed that The Simpsons will be returning to Fortnite this summer after a celebrated 2025 crossover.
