Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, set multiple records with two sold-out shows at Soldier Field Sept. 3-4, with a combined gross of $29.8 million and 129,562 tickets sold reported by Chicago-based promoter SPKRBX Presents.

Friday’s single-night gross of $15,761,063 tops all other single-day reports submitted to Pollstar taking place at the venerable stadium, which has a capacity of 63,200 with 61,500 seated. That just barely edges out Beyonce’s single-night 2023 gross at the venue as part of her “Renaissance Tour” by about $700,000. Bey returned to the venue in 2025 for the “Cowboy Carter” tour where she grossed $42.5 million over three nights.

For a single hip-hop or rap concert, although not an exact science, the Friday-night Soldier Field smash also appears to have set a record, with the $15.76 million gross edging out a single-night report from the Kendrick Lamar / SZA “The Grand National Tour” from 2025, which reported $15.4 million grossed on 60,941 tickets at Lumen Field in Seattle last May.

For hip-hop, the biggest competition to Ye’s Soldier Field show may be his SoFi Stadium shows in Inglewood in April, which reported $32.6 million grossed over two nights.

SPKRBX president and CEO Berto Solorio, who also promoted the July 4 Ye concert at the Alamodome in San Antonio, began working with Ye and his team for the “Vultures” listening parties in 2024, including a short-notice event at United Center that was announced three days before the show and sold out in less than seven minutes.  SPKRBX produced another short-notice “Vultures” listening party at UBS Arena in New York, which reported a sold-out 10,800 tickets sold.

Pulling off the non-traditional events earned trust with Ye and his team, which includes manager John Monopoly, and led to the opportunity to do the stadium shows with the hip-hop star who has not done a traditional or lengthy concert tour since before COVID.

“I think we had a little bit of a head start on the race just because we had the history in the market,” said Solorio, who is also co-founder of the Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash festival in Chicago and whose company produces more than 100 shows per year as an independent promoter.

Solorio flew out to the SoFi shows to make the case and be sure to be in the conversation. “I wanted to experience it firsthand myself, but at the same time make our case to make this show happen in Chicago, his hometown and something I knew would be just as monumental as the L.A. shows were,” Solorio said.

Along with the dazzling production, the Chicago shows included guest appearances by a host of heavy-hitters including Travis Scott, Future, Chief Keef, Rick Ross, Don Toliver, Big Sean, Common, Lupe Fiasco and even Kid Cudi who had publicly feuded with Ye in previous years.

The in-the-round production allowed for just shy of 65,000 tickets sold for each night, well beyond the capacity for most concerts at Soldier Field, although recent tour dates from Metallica and Ed Sheeran eclipsed that total on a single night, while the three-day 2015 “Fare Thee Well” Grateful Dead concerts at the venue had a daily capacity of just over 70,000.

Solorio said the venue team at Soldier Field, “an amazing facility, were great to work with” and more than welcomed promoter to the stadium for its first time, with a co-promotion from local promoter Nuts Productions also lending support.

In the days where corporate global touring divisions are the industry standard promoter for large-scale arena and stadium concerts, Solorio says being the promoter for Ye’s Soldier Field and Alamodome shows “means everything for SPKRBX. There were other promoters, not sure if they were from Chicago, but there were other potential buyers of this show. So it means a lot. I’ve been telling people, my friends and family that this is going to go down as the best show of all time and I truly believe that.”

Speaking from Soldier Field during load-in for the shows, Solorio says getting the Alamodome show under his belt – which he says sold another 62,000 tickets — made the Soldier Field shows less stressful, not to mention the mostly self-contained production that has played other markets, such as Raymond James Stadium in Tampa and Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, although those had different promoters including IKON Presents, which is producing upcoming Ye shows in Houston, Dallas and Phoenix..

That also meant being able to use venue infrastructure at Soldier Field rather than building a multi-stage site for dozens of artists like at Summer Smash festival, which this year saw 130,000 attendees over its three days topped by artists including Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert and Skrillex.

“It’s still such a huge production, super big on the special effects, super big on the audio, super big everywhere else,” says Solorio of the Ye production. “So it is one artist, but a next-level tier of production that definitely keeps our hands full. Hopefully, there’s more of these in the future, but if there isn’t, that’s all right too. I don’t know how many more Ye homecoming shows they could be. When there’s monumental moments, you’ve got to not take it for granted.”
