So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out . We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
THE AVALANCHES – “TOGETHER” FT NIKKI NAIR, JESSY LANZA, PRENTISS

OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW – “LAST AMERICAN WALTZ” (FT. MOLLY TUTTLE)
Old Crow Medicine Show’s new album Union Made is out on June 5 via Hartland Records/Firebird Music, and they’ve given us a preview with “Last American Waltz,” which features Molly Tuttle. Bandleader Ketch Secor calls it “a love song to America in 3/4 time. We wanted it to feel timeless – the kind of song that could drift across a dancehall floor at midnight or echo through an old American Legion hall after the lights come up. Having Molly Tuttle join us on this track brought even more heart and soul to the recording.”

ARNY MARGRET – “IN A DREAM”
“I never really know what a song is about when I’m writing it,” Icelandic singer-songwriter Arny Margret says of this new single. “I just have a sentence and then it kind of goes from there, it’s whatever I’m thinking, like a diary, and then later I’m like, okay, that’s what it meant. It’s like a little moment from that night. It will probably make more sense to me later. It’s actually the original demo take because I tried doing it again and it just didn’t feel right. It kind of captured the moment how it was supposed to be, so I built everything on top of that.”

JORJA SMITH – “WHAT’S DONE IS DONE”
Jorja Smith’s new single is, according to a press release, the first release from her “new chapter.” It was produced by P2J, and KC Locke directed the accompanying video.

TELEHEALTH – “YASSIFY ME”
“What you see is pretty much what you get here,” says Telehealth’s Kendra Cox who directed the video to the band’s final single from upcoming album Green World Image . “‘Yassify Me’ is the result of a zero-dollar budget, a dream, and my aunt Becky absolutely committing to the bit. Watching her improvised movements against the backdrop of rapid development somehow captured the exact juxtaposed spirit of the song better than anything we could’ve planned. Go Mariners!”

CRITERIA – “I AM THE END”
“The video for ‘I am the End’ is a brief — and hopefully funny — reflection on the day-to-day, tiny miseries that many of us experience in adult life, keeping a straight face through it all and attempting to remain positive in the end,” Criteria’s Stephen Pedersen says of the new single off their upcoming album SEIZE! . “Huge props to Jeff VanRoy and the team at Dundee Digital for shooting, co-directing and editing and Timmy Tamesiea and Mike Smith for conceiving, writing and performing the mini-misery vignettes!”

THE GARDEN – “5 MILE PONYTAIL”
California duo The Garden announced their eighth album, Bootleg , due out July 10. “ Bootleg is a compilation of songs written and recorded overtime with no particular intent or goal in mind,” they say. “This album is and was purely a pleasurable endeavor by us both. Every track has its own meaning or story, not unlike a chapter book of different narratives.” They’ve also shared a new single, “5 Mile Ponytail.”

GROWING PAINS – “SWIMMING”
Portland band Growing Pains, who’ve played with Water From Your Eyes, Beabadoobee, Dutch Interior and more, have shared this new single which is their first for Photo Finish Records. Says the band’s Kalia Storer: “This song is about the helpless feeling that comes from being romantically incompetent. I wrote it after going on a date and they put their arm around me and it felt wrong. I left and went to the airport to watch the planes fly and drink a beer on my truck. Then all of the words came to me—this was the night before our last day of recording.”

DEAD TO FALL – 2001 DEMO REMIX/REMASTER
Metalcore vets Dead to Fall have shared a newly remixed and remastered version of their 2001 demo, originally recorded by Mike Hasty and remixed and remastered by Dereck Blackburn. Guitarist Matthew Hartman writes, “It was a special time in the band where we made the decision to GO for it. This demo ended up selling a bunch of copies and led to us getting signed to Victory Records.”
