TEAM WORK – “SOMEBODY’S GOTTA DO IT”
Berlin duo Team Work make low fi pop that recalls early-’80s post punk like Young Marble Giants. The band’s debut album, Somebody’s Gotta Do It, will beout August 7 via Feel It Records and this is the first single.

FROST CHILDREN – “SATELLITES”
“After dealing with a horrifying stalker in NYC we wanted to self-isolate and make a short project in one sitting fueled by sleep deprivation and discomfort,” Frost Children say of their Tweaker Poem EP which will be out July 10 via RCA. “The songs on the EP are tracklisted in the order we made them, from morning until the next morning.”

EDITORS – “THE RUSH”
UK band Editors have announced Surface, Echo & Sound , their eighth album, which will be out October 30 via PIAS. Frontman Tom Smith says the first single is about “that idea of finding comfort in people close to me, friends and loved ones and family, is a theme that comes up all the time. It’s a theme that is in everything to a degree.”

DEUX VISAGES – “ALWAYS YOU”
You may have seen trio Deux Visages on tour with Mannequin Pussy, julie and Wunderhorse and they’ve just just shared the first single from their upcoming debut album that will be out via Pure Noise this fall. “The song that we always wanted to write,” says singer Daphney Hanono. “It’s about being a fly on the wall and watching over someone you love. It’s about longing, uncertainty, and fear. Essentially, a song that’s written to be a cry for someone that won’t hear.”

JOSALEIGH POLLETT – “LIKE A RIVER”
Salt Lake City-based singer-songwriter Josaleigh Pollett will release their fourth album, If I Let It Quiet , on July 24 via Audio Antihero. Here’s the first single. “Like a River is about an attempt at quieting the noise of my own thoughts and of a chaotic world around me in order to try to be more resilient,’ says Josaleigh. “A too-late-coffee-fueled yellow-light-lit silent moment – having arrived at myself just in time to feel my pulse speed up and the news of the day sweep me away into frothing rapids. Hoping for the peace of a quiet river bank, only to remember that a river is swift, chaotic, and ever-changing the earth beneath it. Inspired by Paul Simon’s Peace Like a River- a song I’ve always held in my heart as a beautiful protest song.”

DIARY – “KEEP COMIN’ UP”
NYC band Diary have announced their debut album, Spiral Bound , which will be out September 4 via Kanine. It was produced by Bodega’s Ben Hozie and this is the catchy first single.

LONG ODDS – “BEFORE HERE”
Times New Viking’s Adam Elliott leads newish band Long Odds which also includes members of Connections and Van Dale. Their second album, the dry land, is out July 24 and is steeped in low-fi indie rock.

THE ANIMEROS – “LA CAMITA”
Austin band The Animeros will release their debut album, ¡Qué Bárbaro! , on August 28 via Easy Eye Sound and label owner (and The Black Keys member) Dan Auerbach produced it. The first single is this Cumbia spin on this Traffic Sound song from 1971.

JULIA HOLTER – “FANTASY”
“This song of seeming willful abandon was somehow the most laborious undertaking of the entire record,” Julia Holter says of the first single from her upcoming record Materia .

YARD ACT – “NEW BEGINNINGS”
The second single from Yard Act’s ‘You’re Gonna Need a Little Music’ owes a lot to ’90s Britpop.

THE THERMALS – “SPIRIT COLLECTORS”
Pacific Northwest punks The Thermals are back with their first album in 10 years.

SWAPMEET – “HALFWAY”
Adelaide, Australia quartet Swapmeet make classic-style indie rock, with chugging riffs, moments of beauty and angst, and lots of personality. (They orbit a similar planet as SORRY.) Their debut album, Mount Zero , is due out July 17 and this is the new single.

CHELSEA WOLFE – “THE DARK” & “DEATH IS NOT THE END”
After an album of synthy trip-hop, Chelsea Wolfe is back in haunted folk mode on these two new songs.

FRANKIE ROSE – “CAN’T BE WRONG”
Frankie Rose is back with Hila , her sixth solo album and first in three years, which will be out September 18 via Born Losers / Night School. She recorded it following her 2024 tour with The Jesus and Mary Chain and it features contributions from drummer Justin Welch (Elastica/JAMC), saxophonist Jeff Tobias and more.

THE TUBS – “WHO’S GONNA LOVE YOU NOW”
The Tubs have announced new album, Hard Life , which will be out September 11 via Merge. It’s their first for the label and features contributions from longtime collaborators (and former bandmates) Lan McArdle (vocals), George Nicholls (guitar), and Rachel Kenedy (keyboards).

BRENNAN WEDL – “PRETTY LITTLE FANTASY”
Brennan Wedl has announced her self-titled new album which will be out August 21 via Anti-. It her first album for the label and was produced by Waxahatchie’s Katie Crutchfield and veteran indie knob-twiddler Brad Cook. The album also features contributions from Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan, Colin Croom and Matt McCaughan.

JIM JAMES – “COME AGAIN”
My Morning Jacket‘s Jim James has announced a new solo album, Wowed Out , that will be released August 28 via ATO. The album was produced by Jim is comprised of material he had written with film/TV composer Brian Reitzell (Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides).

DREAMWELL – “PLATH VS. KAFKA VS. ROMANCE”
Providence screamo/post-hardcore band Dreamwell have announced new album Hymns For The Denial Of God which will be out August 28 via Prosthetic Records. It’s their follow-up to In My Saddest Dreams, I Am Beside You which made our list of Best Punk Albums of 2023.
