9 New Songs: The Avalanches, Jamie xx, Peter Gabriel, and More
Listen to new releases from The Avalanches with Jamie xx, Bouncing Souls, LA Priest with Boys Noize, Hurry with Gerard Love, Pussy Riot, Bad World, and Peter Gabriel.

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out . We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
THE AVALANCHES FT JAMIE XX – “EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND”
““We’ve loved collaborating with Jamie xx over the years,” say The Avalanches, announcing their latest collaboration. “His In Colour album reignited our passion for sampling, and this track is all about letting go, forgetting the 9-5 grind and enjoying every single weekend.” The video is pretty twisted.

BAD WORLD – “MAKER OF RULES”
Bay area hardcore band Bad World are releasing a new EP, Maker of Rules , due out on June 19 via Convluse, and they’ve shared the title track.

PETER GABRIEL – “A HARD LESSON”
“This is the oldest track of the project,” Peter Gabriel says of the latest single from his upcoming o/i . “It probably started in the late 80s or early 90s when I was in Senegal. I was falling in love with the music I heard there. I loved the tension created by the use of polyrhythms, particularly the threes and fours, so that was the start of this song. It’s a quirky, strange and long track but it’s a journey. It’s about trying to find a place, your place, how you fit in. I’ve enjoyed playing with old R&B and folk references as well.”

BOUNCING SOULS – “ONLY ECHOES”
Bouncing Souls do their best impression of The Cure on “Only Echoes,” the latest single from their new album Born To Be , which arrives later this month.
—
HURRY – “MOVING AFTER YOU” FT. GERARD LOVE (EX TEENAGE FANCLUB)
Hurry frontman Scottoline calls former Teenage Fanclub singer/bassist Gerard Love “my favorite songwriter from my favorite band.” He guests on this song from Hurry’s upcoming Zoned Out .

PUSSY RIOT – “CANDY DOPAMINE” (FT. AVENGED SEVENFOLD)
Pussy Riot released a mixtape in 2022, three EPs, and a bunch of singles, and they’ve announced CYKA , which they say is their debut album. It’s due out June 12, and the first single is “Candy Dopamine,” featuring Avenged Sevenfold. “This song is kind of a love & hate song to prescription and designer drug culture,” Nadya Tolokonnikova says. “It started with my dependence on anti depressants, but it’s also looking at everyone now mentalhealthmaxxing and looksmaxxing via pills and injections. It’s not a judgement, it’s just an observation and my personal experience with these things is that I have to be in a long term relationship with them for my PTSD and depression.”

LA PRIEST – “INTO THE SKY” FT BOYS NOIZE
LA Priest – aka former Late of the Pier frontman Sam Eastgate – is back with this new single co-produced by Boys Noize. It’s more of a full-on banger than we’ve heard Eastgate do in a while

PARTS & LABOR – “ARTERIAL MATERIAL”
“’Arterial Material’ grapples lyrically with health issues and the challenges of navigating our frequently inadequate care systems,” says BJ Warshaw of Parts & Labor of the latest preview from their upcoming Set of All Sets . “I wrote the lyrics long before the delusional, anti-science fever dream known as ‘MAHA’ came to prominence. On the one hand, the song confronts head on how hard it is to separate fact from fiction, to make sound choices when faced with dire side effects, to determine whether the latest trend is truly a miracle elixir or merely a pharmaceutical corporation’s cash grab. On the other, in spite of the frustrations I’m vocalizing around the slow deterioration of my physical self, I’m so grateful for the care I’ve received. The song kicks off with feedback generated from my hearing aids, prescribed to mitigate my fairly crippling tinnitus, alongside samples from my audiology testing. Nestled in the cacophony are audio samples from my various MRIs.”
